A map I made recently I'm hoping is a little more balanced than the last one I posted...

Perhaps unfortunate I made another map based on Symmetry but maybe you'll forgive me. I think I'm going to have to move the mains back or it'll turn into a blood bath style game and won't last long enough to make the expansions and the rest of the map useful... a bit on the geysers, the expansions at 12 and 6 with 2 geysers have 1000 each (not the traditional 5k) the gas nats geysers only have 1000, the gas only is a 5k and the rest are 5k.

Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading...

(PS, there are several doodads that aren't clearly visible on the image... feel free to dl it if you want to see my asthetic detail...

EDIT: Fixed minor balance change (6 o clock 2 gas left entrence one to small, made one bigger for additional mobility =D)

Looks nice the terrain. So symetrical...(no comment on balance issues tongue.gif)

Is there a reason why it is called Torture Chamber or was it just some random name?

Haha, thanks, I can only wonder if your lack of comment on balance is because it's terrible or you're lazy =D I named it torture chamber because I can visualise a lot of annoying stratagies (to the victim I mean). In case you're wondering on how I got to this rediculously big symetrical map it's because I made the whole map into 7 by 5 hexagons and then worked my way from there... I'll probably make more maps from that just because it took me so damn long to get (nearly an hour) of course I used the normal editor that came with this game so it's go that old school inability to copy and paste or use title sets effectivly. I may post the hexagon 7by5 later but I'm not sure I really want to =/

Thanks again and cheers,

Being initials would be kinda more probably. A name with no vowels in it confused.gif unless it is some foreign language or something like that..

You know, I considered lying and saying my real name really was Gmde, but lying isn't really my style. Yes, of course they're my initials.

much better, its balanced, BUT i dont like the i dea of puting the start locations so close, i was also going to ask what that stood for. good job, 7/10. Only because i dont like the close start locations otherwise it would have been a higher score.

Yeah, the main thing I'm worried about is a 6drone ling rush, however I know that will encourage early worker micro and if it can be blocked by a player of average skill it should make 6d obsolete... However I have no problem with altering the typical build orders, that's what makes StarCraft fun to me, being forced to be innovative and out wit the enemy =/ (or maybe it's because I've always thought of StarCraft like chess) hopefully players will be able to pull off unexpected and unusual stratagies on new maps further expanding the glory of this games diversity. If 6D ling rushes do win games you can be sure that I will edit this map.

I've got two plans if it does fail,

1) Put a few patches of 32 minerals at the current cut throats leading to the middle
2) Move all the bases back to the letters, rearrage expansions and generally do a load of rebuilding balances in expansions

EDIT: 6D ling rush can be blocked with some decent micro and makes for an exciting game, while playing conventionally is also a whole lot of fun, I had a lot of fun testing this map and I hope you spare the time to try it out, it's worth it. My tests included defending with both protoss and terran who eventually won in the counter attack =DI'm really proud of this map as is.

Cheers,
