Is there a way to create custom units and save their profiles? I know how to create a custom type of unit for a specific mission etc, but is there a way to save that character and be able to load it into other missions? Something like the HK Hydra.

If this is not available, is there a .ini file or something I can mess with to get the desired effects? I know most progs have them, though some are hard to find, or hard to edit. Anybody done this?

You can't. You have to copy all the stats and stuff from one map to another.

Or you can create a mod and set the stats as a default... but I don't see why you'd want to do that anyway.

Well; i know quite a lot about this, but lets out it simply, it isn't possible to copy over data from one map or chk to another without re-inputting the data; unless you MOD Starcraft, using a list of Editors...CC, ShadowFlare are two good websites for MOD programs.

All information is kept on MPQ for most Blizzard games, and certain Third-Party programs create a readable list for you...It doesn't work like Warcraft, so say you can have the unit having 2 upgrades unless you made loads of different version for the next map you couldn't keep it like that...I know what you mean it would be great though!

You cannot MOD starcraft to allow yourself to copy paste unit information from one place to another. Modding just changes the current settings and values of units, buildings, etc.

Is there a .ini file or anything I can edit?

Edit: btw whats my avatar say? I can't read it...

You would modify units.dat using Arsenal III or a similar program. The .ini files would contain the text strings used for the units.

And where would I find a prog like that? I'mlazy.

Sounds like a plan.

btw those appear to be for se in general, not just to do the .ini file, which is what I was looking for...

Go read my first post again. I said the only way to do what you are trying to do is to copy paste the unit stats and values manually. If you can't see INI files then there are none.

That is because this God-of-all-.INIs file does not exist.
The text strings for everything is contained in stat_txt.tbl - not any .inis. I checked both StarDat.mpq and Install.exe, not a single .ini in either of them.

They almost always hide them. They specifically disable certain things like that so people cannot just go and edit the hardcode stats of the prog. Its not usually that easy. I just wanted to know if there was one...

Well that was answered in my first post with "You can't."

Meaning "You can't" save and load values into maps with the exception of triggers. "You can't" edit ini's, even if you could it would be modding. "You can't" find files that don't exist. (if there were .ini's, anyone with limited modding experience would know about them, which means I would know about them)

Alright whatever. Excuse me for trying to learn.

I've used them before in red alert (1). It hides the file, but my friend wrote a prog to find it, and then we could edit it real easy. It stored all the values for things like armor, damage, speed, cost, everything, even stuff like weapons, reload rate, unit image, titles, etc. It was fun to mess with... Evidently sc is too "advanced" to allow this kind of fun, and since I am obviously not wanted to know about it, I guess I'll have my fun elsewhere.
