I can't see any details on the image but I think it's quite balanced happy.gif
It's just all the ramps are going downward, but I doubt you can prevent that.

Try making the screenshot this size so we can see it wink.gif

I'll do a list of opinions and stuff about this map:

1. I downloaded the map.

2. I repeat what Legacy said: Please post a bigger image like the one he posted.

3. Like in your other map (square arena or something) I hate the doodad placement, especially on that elevated terrain where you use the same doodad more than 10 times.

4. Mineral "arrangement" is plain weird (not a bad thing)

5. WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY too many gas expansions (try doing 5 vespene geysers on a map, 1 in the players main, 1 in each of the players expo, 1 in a big expo which players will fight to control)

6. The only balance issues I see is that red has WAY more easier access to the central platform of elevated terrain AND that the two elevated terrain platforms on the top are bigger than the ones on the bottom.

7. I already said it but I'll say it again: Too many doodads of the same type are all compacted together.

THE RATING:

6/10 (I'll give you 7/10 if you fix those doodads)

I don't know how often you guys play this game but... Terran would own TvZ... 2 gas nats in the main... I wonder what Terran will do ermm.gif ... You pretty much force Zerg to go Muta's... not to mention the cliffs that are just outside the main... nothing really interesting about the map... it looks like you just went in strait lines and scattered a few resourses around.

The ramps face one player giving them an advantage or going up the ranps easier. Nothng much you can do though since Starcraft made the ramps like that closedeyes.gif.

I don't like the mineral placememnt. Doesn't look natural fear.gif

Ok, first off, terran would own on this map. The places where everyone will be fighting will be at the small chokes, easily defended by tanks with a few turrets. Zerglings would get owned because they'll funnel into the choke and 3-4 bats and a few meds would cream 100 zerglings easy. I don't know bout the mineral placements, not all that great though. This map looks a lot like a money map to me. There really aren't any real expos, just small 4 min patch ones with a gas right in the middle of it.

3/10

this map has a bunch of technica problems, to many gasses mineral arragement. The cliffs on top are bigger than the ones on the bottom, they seem kind of pointless. There are so many doodads they dont do anything. and terran would own. the stuff you did on this map just kind of seems pointless

wth, I know tanks would own with alot of elevated terrain but chokes are always on maps if not it is an advantage for protoss and huge disadvantage for terran. It seems you think tanks would own everymap exept maybe a Fastest Posibble map with no terrain at all.

EDIT: I know tanks would "basically" own theis map but he mentioned the chokes as to being a GIGASUPERULTRA advantage to terran.

sidenote: I play terran in meele games

Look at the map below. It is a popular map for many people, including those on WGTour and other ladders. Yes, there are ramps/chokes, but surrounded by lots of land, so no funneling. I use that metaphor quite often, for a large amout of land leading to a small choke with small cliffs on both sides or water. All units will funnel into the choke and you can't even go around to the side and use an observor to attack up top. Just a big funnel! Now look at Nostalgia. 2 roads and ramp is surrounded by huge land mass, plus there are 2 ways to enter the base. No funnel effect here.

EDIT: You need at least some open space somewhere on the map. I don't care what your favorite race is. You may think I'm bashing terran but I'm not. It's just that siege tanks are the most easy examples to use(ie long range, you see it all the time, etc.).

It's always and advantage to terran to have smaller chokes, protoss like having space to move... Why you ask? almost all terran units are ranges, thus there is a lot of focused fire at chokes which will obliterate anything that comes near... now picture this... you have 20 or so dragoons... all trying to get in a shot at the enemy who has lets say 7 tanks, and 5 vultures, and maybe 2 turrets (enough to stop one or two shuttles). Because not all the dragoons can attack at the same time (due to the small opening) and the tanks can (due to their superior range) who do you think has the upper hand here? I'm fairly sure that the terran could manage 6 fac with 3 gehysers in his main. You've probably seen the replay where the protoss hallucinated his zeals and then ran them in with move command and his real zeals using attack command... that probably wouldn't work here unless the terran had terrible mine placment... know why? the real zeals would be stuck trying to get past the fake ones running around... I can't tell you much more because I've been playing zerg for the past year but I'm pretty sure that's one of the big reasons terran like chokes...

PhsychoTemplar, you just said what I said, that chokes are good for terran and wide opens spaces are good for protoss. Cliffs benefit all races BUT they benefit terran more. Thats basically what I said, what I'm saying.

Caim "wth, I know tanks would own with alot of elevated terrain but chokes are always on maps if not it is an advantage for protoss and huge disadvantage for terran. It seems you think tanks would own everymap exept maybe a Fastest Posibble map with no terrain at all."

I missunderstood, I missed the "are always on maps, if not" I thought you were saying it was an advantage to protoss to have chokes... which it never is =/ Sorry. If anything my post will clairify the usefulness of chokes to newbs...

EDIT: Though I have no idea why you started with a wth after a quote which you pretty much supported with a solid fact...
