The idea of this thread is to ask about something you've always wondered about, but never knew the answer to. Other people will then attempt to answer your question to the best of their ability. If you feel fully satisfied with someone's answer you can give them a karma point, send them a few minerals, or just give them a few words of praise. Try not to have more than two or three open questions in the thread at a time, to keep the clutter down. Keep these questions and answers serious, so this isn't moved to the garbage thread where it will be promptly reduced to "your mother" jokes. I'll ask the first question to get this started and even if you don't know the answer entirely you can still comment on the topic.

How is napalm used with weapons? What purpose does it serve in, for example, a flamethrower?

You're wrong about the toilet inventor. Read it again
QUOTE
We went back to our original search and clicked on Web Pages. From there, we found a page titled The History of Plumbing. It informed us that Crapper didn't invent the toilet, but was an English plumber from the late 1800s who held nine patents for plumbing products.

Here's another question. In the movie Fight Club they repaint a sign to say to use motor oil for your fertilizer. What's the deal with this, can you really use motor oil for fertilizer?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Puni(F) on 2005-03-01 at 22:19:10
No, I spilled motor oil on a plant one day, And some day's later...When I cam back...It was dead. And the motor oil, Is way to thick for a plant to suck up into its vine's, It would basically get clogged.

Because that way people have to come and buy those drugs again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again, so that those drug companies get many many many many many many money.
Everyone likes money, everyone do everything to get more of it.

(If the drugs cure the affliction, people stop buying the drugs, if the drugs help but affliction stays - people will keep buying them)

According to the article your teacher is wrong. Crapper held many patents for plumbing applications, but did not invent the modern toilet.

Napalm: Basically jellied petrol. It doesn't go out when it hits water, and its consistency makes it useful for flamethrowers as it has a lasting effect.

If the flamethrower just used gas, the effect would disappear pretty quick unless the torched object was flammable. So basically, napalm in a flamethrower acts as an agent to prolong the incendiary effects.

It's to show that someone just punched you in the left eye, and you're feeling shocked and unhappy about it.

Q: What's the price for platinum?

"Chinese demand and fund buying produce steady climb to $871" - January 31, 2005
Precious metals are weighed in Troy ounces or Troy pounds. Right now platinum is worth around ~$850-900 per Troy ounce. One Troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams.

Nope... Platinum costs 10 times than gold

EDIT: It's not just that platinum, it's all platinum

EXAMPLE:
Like if gold costs a penny, platinum is a dime

Ok, here's a question: What's the standard enthalpy change of formation for Xenon Hexafluoride (XeF6) ?

Or if you can't find that - for Carbon Monoxide (CO) instead?

Maybe these Chem questions will confuzzle you all! w00t.gif

Maybe at that point in time Platinum was worth ten times more than Gold, but now it's only about twice the value. The prices for them are based on supply and demand.

Today Platinum is worth $868.

Today Gold is worth $433.5.
