sort of write a biography on how you came to master staredit.
I started with melee making. Unbalanced it was, it was the only thing I could make. I had no clue what Triggers were, and what they were intended for, as I did not play UMS maps. (AT the age 10/11).
I decided to learn triggers, and opened up the help menu, and from then, I started to master the basics. But, (since English isn’t my first Language) it took me 7-8 months to learn what triggers were. What conditions and actions were.
It was my hardest, yet well earned for moment, when I learned about switches. At first, like many other beginners of map making, wondered “What exactly is a switch”? the help function, wasn’t much help this time, and I had to figure it out by myself. It took me several months to finally learn it. It was not until 2004 January, I mastered my skills… (Age 12). I started Mapping, useless maps they were, and I continually grew better at it. It was only when I first joined Staredit, I first used the programs I use today.
It took me a LONG time to learn how to use staredit. I'm new to mapping as I only joined staredit, like 2 months ago
I started mapmaking 4 years ago. I started making basically kill units and move the hero to the beacon. I started with Starcraft Campaign Editor and learned the basics of bring and create. Soon I learned about how to move locations! Then yet I accidentally created hyper triggers but did not know how I did. Learned switches by myself to create this very old Animorphs game and other games. I remember the good old days when GUEdit was the best protection and we had to copy colors from a txt. Then I stopped for a while. I think it was to play D2 or something. Soon I got SCXE and started making a Dodgeball Tournament map. During this production I heard of SEN and decided to join.
I don't think anyone has mastered StarEdit yet...
I thought I could do a better job at making maps then most n00bs out there so I opened it and started asking n00b questions.

not really master, but to learn

Chu -

I began making maps for friends, because back then only one of us had internet, so we had to lan. I began making RPG's but had no idea how to use triggers well back then. Then I stopped making maps, or rather, never completed any others. I became more enthused about Diablo 2, and had a set of armor that made me have 1000 skill points on all spells (even those that weren't able to be cast be my character) After Diablo upgraded so that you could only get a maximum of 100 skill points on any spell, I grew out of Diablo 2. I reverted back to Starcraft, and all that testing with programming gave me the ability to make triggers. So now I'm making about five maps, I work on each when I feel like it or have a good idea.
That is my map making story.
I just started messing around with all of the features of the real staredit that came with starcraft. And got some people to help me with my map's, And from there I went elite.
Opened up Staredit and saw the triggers. Read them. Instantly understood nearly all of them. Got Diablo 2. Didn't do anything with SC for a while. Then a few years ago (2002) I started mapping again.
Me, Bolt Head, and Tuxedo Templar were bred for map making. Our DNA was altered for creativity and awesomeness. We're all experimental subjects for Blizzard's new "Map Maker Mutants" Program.
Haha, Yoshciee.
I don't remember when it happened exactly, but it was years back. I was making a map with my brother during one of those boring summer mornings, and it just seemed to come to me. Like many things I've 'learned' I just seemed to know what to do, and how to do it. It was very strange when I got on Battle.net, and talked to people about their proverbial 'first time'. Everyone had seemed to have trouble learning it... I feel weird now, so I'll shut up.
Okay, my serious one:
Ever since Starcraft was first released, I've always had a interest in the starcraft campaign editor. One of the reasons I prefer staredit over WCedit is because starcraft is more futuristic based and the game style is cool.
Anyways, so ever since 6 years ago, I had an interest in mapping. (there were periods where I would not do it at all, or whichever). I wish there was a mapping site like SEN out back then... it would of assisted me majorly.
Anyways, I learned slowly and slowly until I joined supreme starcraft as a map maker, then after that decided to persue my real interest with starcraft... map making... by making this little corner of the internet. Learning to master staredit was just a matter of screwing around with it for a while, and meeting the right people on staredit.net and other sites.
I toom a crash course on it... for about a 2 week period i read pretty much ever internet faq on map making known to man, then i was like hey.... it all makes sense... then i made a couple maps for my freinds and just played around with some crap, and tadah!
i went to blizzard and threanted to kill a hostage if they dont teach me how to map.

Some good, some funny stories..
