Ok i just noticed that a bunch of people have links in there signatures to give themself Karma.

I think this is wrong, and belive we should make a rule against linking to the give karma. And Warn members who do.

Maybe there is something else you could do like make a "Are you sure you want to give karma to 'such-and-such'?" page.

I've already reset their karma to 0 and warned anyone who chooses to not tell people they are giving them karma. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it is visibly obvious you are giving them karma (my sig).

The first 3 have a decent 'warning' while RexyRex didn't at all (i removed the entire sig and fined her 7 karma)

LegacyWeapon has a warning but its something you likely wouldn't read until afterwards.

Rather than judgeing what is a fair warning or not I think it would be more fair to everyone if we simply don't allow it period.

PS. If i had to guess what your link did without looking at the address then I would assume it would link me to a page telling me about karma.

Why would you think that? It states there "give me karma". How more obvious can I get without posting the actual karma link?

IP has removed Karma for the moment and I think it will be until SEN v5.0

Anyways, you should just remove the link, remove a reasonably large amount of karma(60% ?) or all the karma if 5 or less karma and warn them.

Because only the word 'karma' was the link. 'Give me Karma' was the link it would be differant to me.

But it isn't about how it is said, its about the advertiseing for Karma. If your going to draw a line about it make it very clear, 'don't link to it'. Then the whole system is more fair because we don't have some members with there own advertising and some without.

I guess this topic is kinda useless right now because Karma was removed. But heres some thoughts for when we start it up again if we do.
