I have tried experimenting with so many different options...Ive read the tutorials, Ive researched pretty extensively (I guess...2 hours so far)
And I can STILL not get the opponent to do anything! I used to make maps as a hobby a couple years back, but my disk shettered, so I stopped, and Ive forgotten most everything. What am I doing wrong here?????
***Extra info:
I have given player 2 the standard base, a couple units, and an extensive supply of resources. The location extends around the base, but Ive tried expanding and shrinking it to see if that had any effect, but to my disdain, nope.
I dont know why it isnt working completely but--
player 2 base, the location has to be the size of the players hatchery, (cmand center, etc.) and completely on it. Are you getting me? Also, what type of editor do u have?
It covers their hatchery, yes.
and I'm using StarEdit.
But i mean ONLY their hatchery!
And if it does, dont reply cause then i have to tell u something-
You're Doomed.
But really if it doesnt work, reinstall sc cause u gots a junk pile of an editor. (ooooorrrr you can dl a custom made editor like StarForge or SCM Draft or whatever u call it!)
lol...DOOMED! NUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Ah well. Thanks.
I'll just get another editor, then.
Suggestions? I'd consider myself to be a mediocre map-maker. Not extremely talented, but I can get by.
If the editor works, that is...
A computer can only run one AI script at a time.
Neutral players cannot run AI scripts.
Make sure the computer player's race is set to Zerg (You could have it set to Protoss but placed some default units for Zerg).
lol anything.
Suggestions, period.

We have tutorials for everything! (And I mean anything!)
Here are some mapmaking tips by so and so:
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?tutorial=4http://www.staredit.net/index.php?tutorial=10http://www.staredit.net/index.php?tutorial=117http://www.staredit.net/index.php?tutorial=13By reading these, it might confuse the shit outta you or make you a better mapmaker

We don't have tutorials on everything - yet. (I still have to submit a few...)
Now then... Moonmonkey, I recommend you get SC xtra 2.5 or 2.6. It's depateable about which one is the best editor. Once you get the hang of maps again, you could use Starforge 2.2 . You can get all of these from here:

He is NOT talking about AI scripts. He is trying to provoke the computer to do things without AI scripts. Just the hardcoded stuff that units do. Like automatic blinding with a medic.
Not many people have checked this out but I remember a tutorial in the old database talking about it...

Need I say more?

Looks like everyone has covered the most important things needed to solve your problem.
1. Only one Ai/per comp.
2. The location seems to be right.
3. The race/Ai are correctly matched.
4. No neutral players running Ai's.
5. Since you are using StarEdit there is no chance that you "mispelled" the script since StarEdit is a pulldown gui.
(you've mispelled "insame" in your post code).
The only thing I can suggest at this stage is that you post the map. A quick look by me and others might reveal something obvious that you are missing.
The only suggestion I have is POST THE MAP.

I thought Staredit, only allowed you to place units of the race it's set to unless it's created...?

I thought no one used staredit anymore because it was outdated?
It depends on how you look at it Chu. Yes, people use it (because SC xtra is part of it), but no, no one uses it without anything else.
X-tra IS a mod of it but using X-tra isn't the same as using StarEdit. Staredit has tons of restictions that, when you get down to mapping today, are too great to even consider using it.
