My look on this is that it's great and all but way to expendsive and it's copying 2 things from Nintendo©.First,Handheld ,Second,The miniature Cd's from Gamecube©.
Tell me how u thing about this?

It's actually not that expensive for everything it does ($150).
It plays movies, music, and games (On a large screen, with sweet graphics).
Yeah, but you have to buy a memory stick and games too. A good memory stick that could actually take advantage of music and movies would be like 512MB, and would cost a ton, and their games cost around $50... It's a lot more expensive than just the console.

It's not 150, that's the DS. It's more like 189, but with tax it'll jump to 200. But you will have to add the price of a memory card a game and your final price is around 280 dollars. I wouldn't buy this for movies since movie titles are confirmed to be 50 dollars, when you could buy a dvd for only 20 dollars that can be played for more than 3 hours AND give a bigger screen (if you're tv is decent

).
Gameplay takes 6 hours when you play a game that has simplar graphics like tetris, but graphic intensive games like Ridge Racer only lasts between 90 minutes and 3 hours, according to Gamespot.
The screen captures smudges and scratches rather easily, and there are MANY reports of defects such as discs "SHOOTING" out, or even the square button not working. Worst of all, Sony has said that these malfunctions are SUPPOSED to be included and that people will just have to deal with them. Talk about customer service, geez!
Battery life gets worse when playing with friends, so bring a AC adapter often. Finally, games cost a ridiculous 50 dollars, when you could play that game on a system such as the PS2, on a bigger screen without worrying your batteries will be low.
Have a nice day.
I'm not even voting. Your poll is something around "PSP = God" or "PSP = total piece of *@?%".
It's just not worth the price, and it's not all too innovative. Just brings up already-used technology and try (TRY) to make it better. Failure.
Nintendo will most likely always > Sony with portable consoles.
PS -- Revelade is right about everything. And you're totally away when saying the price will be 150...
Actually, right now Sony is only sending the PSP in bundles of $250 that include a 32MB memory stick and Spider-Man 2 the movie. Which is pretty annoying because that's a total waste of money -- if I wanted a Spider-Man 2 movie that could only play on this tiny little thing as opposed to an entertainment system, I'd buy it myself. And a 32MB memory stick is useless for mp3s/movies; I'd rather save money and buy a 512MB stick right off the bat. Plus you're probably gonna want to buy a game, which costs another $50.
So if you're one of the early adopters for a PSP and still want to play mp3s and movies, it'll cost you about $380.
Either way I'm buying a DS soon... If I buy a PSP at all I'm going to wait for the price to go down.
DS is confirmed to have online games later this year. And best of all, IT'S FREE!
Plus once the Play-Yan SD converter comes out in America (it's out in Japan), the DS can ALSO play mp3s and movies at a lesser cost than PSP!

I've seen alot of theses PSP topics ..... and there all the same! Why can't there be only 1 topic about it!
I am looking forward to owning a PSP
Many people will be turned off by the price, considering it is $110 more then the Nintendo counterpart.
But consider the facts, Sony movies will be imported into little discs that are formated to be watched on the PSP, so it is a little movie player.
The graphics are just as good as a PS2, as where the GameBoy DS has only advanced to Super-Nintendo/N64 graphics.
And the clincher for me: The new Final Fantasy VII movie will be released on the PSP seven months before it ships on DVD.
If price is a factor, i would go with the DS, but personally, I would splurge and get the PSP.
Thanks , for all ur post's and vote's

Sure, but why would you want to re-buy a bunch of movies you can only play on the PSP? Unless you carry your PSP
everywhere and your DVD player on the television or on the computer is really crappy, it would be a waste of money.
I'm not anti-PSP -- I know someone who imported one and Metal Gear Acid looks pretty damn cool, but I just don't think the PSP lives up to the hype Sony is trying to create.
IMO, even if dvds are made for the PSP, they will lack the special features because the umd space is less than of a normal dvd. Since my family owns a large HDTV, I'd rather watch a movie on that than a small screen. Even if you were to watch a movie, battery life would die VERY fast as movies take a lot of juice.
It's true you say that the PSP has better graphics than the NINTENDO DS (not gameboy DS), but you also forget the other features of the DS. The 2 screens is obvious, but also it has a touchscreen that allows it to simulate FPS's more accurately, a microphone to record, and finally a fold design to protect both screens.
I'd wait and get the FF7 movie on DVD as it can hold more special features and has a much larger resolution, if I were to get it, that is.
Cheapness is not always a bad thing. The PSP does cost a lot initially, but the games will also be at the 50 dollar price of todays consoles.
Overall, though the PSP does many things, each area is limited in some way. I only see value packs for purchasing on websites and with that comes a 32mb memory stick. Now, 32 is fine for saving games, but for music... I don't considerate it acceptable. The average size of music is about 4mb for a 3 minute song. That means you can only really hold 8 decently sized music pieces in there, at most. But you will also need to shave some space for saved games, pictures, and other stuff. You might want to upgrade to a 256 or 512 mb stick, but guess how much that will cost. Movies are smaller, don't come with as much features as DVDs, and you also need to worry about battery life. Importing movies might work since the screen is smaller, the file size gets smaller as well. Pictures could also apply to this. But why bother using the PSP for these purposes is beyond me.
So in conclusion, to maximize the most out of the PSP, you have to be willing to spend a lot of money on a bigger memory card. However, no matter how much money you have, your battery life will still be bad, so extra battery packs should be considered to purchase, which also costs a bit of money.
My opinion is I'd rather wait for the new consoles to arrive than spending a hoard of money on a system that will be outdated in the fall.
Don't think of it as a kiddy system that everybody can own. It's more of a portable PS2. That's like comparing PS2 to a N64. PS2 games have better graphics, games have a BIG difference, and it's more expensive, and yet I would buy a PSP over a DS.
That's one of the problems, though. People are talking about this like a portable PS2, when it's not. Handheld consoles work on an entirely different gameplay psychology. Even if you take a phenomenal epic game that would do great on the PS2, and brought it to the PSP, it wouldn't do well, because the point of having a handheld console is to be able to play quickly and easily, whenever and wherever you want to.
Overall, portable games are designed a lot differently than the console games in which you can play sitting on a comfy couch for hours. I'm not saying you're doing this, but some people are expecting the PSP to be exactly like a PS2 you can play anywhere, without realizing what that really means.
Also, I should point out your analogy of a PS2 to a N64 doesn't make sense because they're from different game generations (it's like comparing SNES to PlayStation). You could compare a PS1 to N64 or a PS2 to GC. (But funny this is that in either example the Sony console wouldn't have better graphics like your analogy said.

)
When you're buying a PSP you're buying a computer with nothing in it (except maybe a video card). You can't use it until you spend another $50 for a game/move, and to play those you need a decent memory stick, which would cost upwards of $50.
I would easily choose the DS over the PSP; touch-screens are so pretty

(I actually have a DS, it's great). The only disadvantage with the DS is that it's more for children, whereas the PSP is meant for Teens. Over the 3 months I've had my DS, I still only have 1 game, Super Mario 64 DS. Almost every other game is trying to bring back games with new features from touching; and most don't work.
This system was supposed to be 300$$$. that is what it should be too! but its 150$! thats great. its awesome--
BUT im so cheap i wont get it till the price drops...or christmas.
The Psp looks to be a great system, but i find i comes out WAY before its time, with all its flaws: low battery life, high price, not very innovative, etc.
But it has great graphics, lots more games, and has sony fans waiting to buy it by the dozen.
I'd go for the DS, I dont find its so childish, its just people have seen so much fighting, bloody and gory games that a simple Mario games seems childish, but its not, all a child understands from that game is: you need to get as many stars as you can and save princess peach, oh, and kill bowser.
We see: Do all you can, figure out all the games secrets, defeat everything, find more things to beat, then dominate the game.
Its the same concept as most games, final fantasy, prince of persia, except they add blood and stuff.
Oh well, I go for the DS, I trust nintendo with the handhelds, they're the masters of this, they have loads of experiance, they know what they are doing. Sony just wants to compete, but unless nintendo go bankrupt, nintendo should never be defeated in the handheld section of gaming, they know what its about.
Psp don't suck, it just don't compare.
I mean that since PS2 graphics is to N64 Graphics as PSP Graphics are to DS.
Ditto for the cost.

Where the heck does it say that?
