I have noticed that map revealers can be used as detectors.

Is this a bug in SCXE or is it a thing that was intended.

You sure you didn't have a detector unit nearby or your ally had one because I swear, Map Revealers have never been detectors for me.

I'm sure because i disabled vision for myself and enabled vision for p8 and set map revealers there. I made a cloaked unit for myself and boom! it's visible. I also disabled a bunker and a cannon and I can see em both.

The map revealers and the DT are owned by the same player, or it could be a minor glitch where the map revelars just show your units regardless if they're cloaked or not. Try making the DT for player 8, and you own the map revealer.

If you own them you will be able to see them. Taking off vision doesn't take off your entire vision. It just makes it so that units don't reveal fog for you.

If you enable shared vision for P8 then that means that P8 will be able to see every single one of your units, and i think thats why P8 saw ur cloaked units.

Nope, thats wrong. If you enable vision for player 8 that means you will get player 8's vision. If you enable vision for your player # for player 8 then that means player 8 will get vision of your units.

I think it's impossible. Maybe if you could tell us what you were trying to do, we could help with that!

Give them to a differant player . . . uhh whats the point of owning it if you can't see it.

I'm going to pull a mike right here.

TOP SECRET PROJECT!!11!oneone!12183571!omgwtfbbq

Here's a lowdown of what I want:
I want to have a Dark Templar or any unit cloakble for that matter to be invisible to me but still owned by me.

I wonder if that's even possible?

I could see it be usefull for either some sort of spells or summonings, but I don't think its possible. (I hope you prove me wrong!)

No, that would be impossible. I have seen often though introduction scenes where the unit is given to a computer player that then cloaks the unit. It makes quite a nice effect in my opinion. However, any unit owned by you can be "seen" if your self-vision is enabled, otherwise you could not select them through hotkeys.

Map revealers not being detectors was already established. Please guys read the previous posts.

Oh, I understand where this misconception came from then. I'm guessing that you are trying to make a DT owned by yourself appear cloacked to yourself by disiabling self-vision, and then enabling ally vision with a computer that can see where your DT is. Is that correct?

Anyway, a cloacked unit (perm. or not) that you own will never be invisible to you, no other unit owned by you for that matter. In fact, the only thing that disabling self vision does is prevent you from seeing what your units can see. So therefore, walking a cloacked DT owned by you into a place where you can see (must be a result of foreign vision) will allow you to see where that unit it, and therefore be able to click it.

You cannot do what you ask. --==THE END==--
