I'm just curious, what type of maps or map specifically do you guys enjoy? What do you look for in a game / map? And why it is that?

To start off a discussion, I'll go with my current favorites. First off is Fleet Command, and the reason why I love it is because the teamwork involved. Also, I find it fun that you specialize in one way, like running a ship, or building a fleet. Plus, it's fun watching the other guy struggling to fight the 70 Valks that you dig up.

The second map that I like is the classical StarCraft Fortress. Not only that the teamwork involved but the strategy that comes with microing a small squad of men. I'm very surprised that this map isn't played much, but the fact that it's in the scenario folder means that most noobs won't find it.

Ironically, the third map is about the lack of teamwork. The map is called "Sabatoge!" and basically, there are 7 players, and one of you (randomly) is the sabateur. The catch is that the sabateur has a Zerg base which he can send a HUGE amount of Zerg at you. In addition, he can also "Sabatage" you, which basically kills all of your men and buildings. You can suspect a person, and if he tries to sabatoge you, he fails and ou are notified. The only other thing is that you lose if more than 40 zerg units reach the middle. I'll post this map up after Yoshi's attachment purge.

What maps do you like? Let the great debate begin!

My personal taste in map are ones were detail and time are carefully applied to the map. There is nothing better then a map that looks awsome and plays very smooth and even the little details such as adding a few triggers to make it look like Civilians are wandering a city in RPG's, or Terrain details, or even taking the time to add colors to ones map is always a big plus. And I've always been very big on RPG style maps.

Personally i like FireFlys map Collective of the Four Elements. It plays well and the fact that your not aimlessly wandering around trying to find enemies to level up, the enemies spawn out of the screen and follow in your general area so it makes it look nice when walking around the map. That and all the fun detail in the side quests are interesting and fun to play. That and the story is pretty good so your not lost and wondering what the hell is going on.

Cant forget about Sorcery RPG, the map is awsome. A lot of detail and creativity went into creating each and every spell for all classes of spell casters, and i've played it numerous times and have never encountered a bug. That and its nice to see something thrown in like a recall effect to show units warping in like he did instead of units just popping up out of no were when they spawn.

I think my first jump into UMS got me into a World War Two map; well made and clever, and i still like the occasional game of that Genre.

I am a LotR addict and love most of the maps that come out and play almost all the good ones, and some of the less known amazing maps!

I like bounds, and was there at the beginning with the first map makers, mucking around and seeing what happened. Hell at that time we had no StarForge and SCMDraft had only come out. Thank god for ISOM...

Some RPGS...

my favorite is snipers, you need teamwork and timing (and i got none of it hehe).

I used to be atleast a little good but now when i got enw comp i hardly play it sad.gif.

Anyway snipers is also simple and anyone can play it but its also a little hard to become really good at it.

Im also or was a lotr fan, both books and maps. They also need teamwork and really good timing.

Like Tazzy, I like mine short and fun, no involving stuff that justs causes extra lag. Bounds are usually a good example of these, unless they have tons of sound and crap, i.e. Woohoo! Bound.

I like RPG's, but I always hate SC RPG maps, if I wanted to play Final Fantasy, ill just get on FF, not SC.

Any maps well made... Madness puts a big - in it...

Most maps I actually play will need AT LEAST some micromanagement of units in it since I'm a melee fan. Current map I play mostly is Team Micro Arena (probably one of the best map I played)

I used to play Golem madness before, but I think it was more just to pwn these ####ers out there using the lil tricks to pwn everyone... I really don't know why I used to like that at all...

I had a bound period too since it required at least some decent micro to do anything out of it.

And that's about it... I think.

I've never really been into madness either, Golems was fun for a bit *don't know why*. But I've never really been into bound maps, they just never really appealed to me.

I'm with Rayne. I never like bound maps. I tried them a few times, and found them a bit...well...boring. To me anyways.

Also another type of maps that I like is something like SC Party, where you have a whole bunch of different stuff to do on one map.

Madness maps are sometimes fun for the occasional gore fest, but they're usually horrible. The only madness-ish map that I really played much and enjoyed was Snowball Wars, though the style of play wasn't really madness.

The best version of Madness style is MTG maps. They count in that catagory and are some of the best maps out there! I don't see what is boring about good bounds? Most people try to run everything, the funniest ones are where you are running around doing quick turns and twists trying not to die, like dodging...Thats great.

There is only one good Sniper Map, SpeedBall is the 1337 game of Starcraft Sniping, play that!

Hmm, I've also gone into a recent fascination of Archon Tag maps. Of course, humans vs. computers is boring, so I'm stuck with humans vs. humans, which eventually just gets...humourous and boring. More emphasis on the boring though.

And the new Resident Evil maps. Tried it a few times, and I think that except for the creator of the map, nobody knows whats supposed to happen at all.

True, but the recent Resident Evil map i've played called "Resident Evil: Racoom City" is actually pretty awsome. Its not so much as the other resident evil games were your running though a maze of zombies but your actually defending the city from the plagued zombies that infest it. Its also just very nicely made, and very fun to play.

That's the map I meant. I mean, where is everything? Unless you've played it a few times, you die within the first 30 minutes.

I've survived to the last 10 minutes, and then, Nemesis just owns everything.

I dont know ive never made it past an 45 minutes of play for a couple of reasons, either my allies are idiots and just camp in 1 spot, or no one knows how to get the special weapons.
