Staredit Network -> Ideas -> Chrono Cross
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kyuubi. on 2005-03-16 at 19:06:24
I know Chrono Cross for the ps one is one of the oldest games but it is still one of my top favorite RPG games.

So it I was planning on making an sc version of Chrono Cross. I am also gonna make it into parts since Chrono Cross is a pretty long game. I am into the battle system.

Tileset:Jungle
Type:RPG
Players:Requires all 3 players only to play
Map size:maybe 256x256
Leveling/Experience System
There is no leveling or experience in this. You get a few stats/upgrade points(minerals)through battles for a limited a time for each battle. After fighting a boss, you gain stats/upgrade points through the battles again.
Encountering System
The encounter system will be like the FFIII, but I will make the battle itself very similar to Chrono Cross, a turn-based battle system.
Battle System
When you encounter an enemy, you will appear on a battlefield with the monsters. This battle system might also require some stategic plans to defeat the enemies.
Here is how this will work for the battle system;
-Each player will start with 7 stamina points(will be displayed on the leaderboard)
-At the start of a battle, player 1 will take control of the attack options(a dropship which has units inside on which you want your character to do) and a cursor(an observer to choose a target).
-Move the observer to a target(a monster or a player,The character will move with the observer), then choose an attack option.
Units/options inside the dropship:
-Attack 1:Consumes 1 stamina point, Weak attack(a short-time attack)
but can perform many attacks and maybe combos.
-Attack 2:Consumes 2 stamina points, Medium attack(more time of attack)
-Attack 3:Consumes 3 stamina points,Strong attack(Attack for longest)
-Use Elements:Consumes 7 Stamina Potions,You can use an element/spell
like tablets/healing. Elements can only be used once per turn and the once per battle.
-Wait:This will recover 1 stamina point and shift your turn to the
next character.
After the players attack, it will be the enemies turn to attack.
Stamina System
As said above each player will start with 7 stamina points. When they run out of stamina points. The turn will shift to the next player. Choosing the wait option will recover 1 stamina point to all players. A player cannot have more than 7 stamina points.

This map is still in the planning stages so give me feedback on this map idea. One other thing is that since there are many characters, should I choose a unit/character for the entire game and have no dialogue, or if its possible to make a character and make it follow through the storyline or give your suggestions.
