Ok so I'm making a sort of arena fighting map, and I need to know what sort of general Items I should put in there. So far I have heal, energy regenerate, invincibility, and deaths touch (which kills any enemies within a 2x2 radius of your character. Anybody have any ideas?
Grav Bomb: Drops a bomb that after x seconds explodes and sucks players towards it for x seconds. Perfect for cramped spaces, bad if you're too slow to run from your own weapon.
Ark: Creates a [building?] that flies around for no apparant reason. If a player steps under it, they turn invincible. The vuilding explodes after a certain period, killing all the players under it...
Pandora: If the items are able to be picked up in the arena (and there are two comps of the same colour) you can create an item that if somebody picks it up, they get hoarded by Infested Terrans and blown to smithereens.
Rain Dance: A "Waterfall" goes through the center of the arena, threatening anyone who enters it to get slammed into the side of the arena (enabling people to come up from behind and BLAM! you're dead as you try to escape)
(Am I coming up with items or hazards? Hmm...)
Reverse Grav Bomb: Same thing as original, but moves players into walls.
Echo Blast: Take Grav Bomb, move it into random places on the map so players keep getting disoriented.
Snatch: Steal another player's items.
Squall: Creates a "storm" that drifts around map.
665th Artillery Battalion: Creates 1 Damage Siege Tanks that travel around with player and attacks other players at long range with wimp damage.
Corona: "Blinds" players, either naturally with a medic, or creates fog of war (unally vision of self)

Psyche: Your vision, along with all the other player's, are locked on to each a different random player. (It is meant to be spelled Psyche.)
P433r: If this is a game with full vision, makes so other players can't see what the user is doing (may be switched to unshared vision with ALL players.)
The Crunch: LSD time...moves various, albeit insane things into arena like dancing SCVs, Marines shooting at nothing, Dark Swarms all over...ends with a spetacular fireworks/nuke show.
Manhatten: Unleashes a nuke at the designated area.
Ion: Each player gains a polarity. They then follow the rules of magnetism as they try to move around arena. (Is this one even possible?)
Light Cycles: I have various ideas on this one.
-Creates computer "Light Cycles" that drop barriers around arena. Stepping into a barrier is fatal. To destroy it, destroy the light cycle (which can run into barriers also.)
-Creates a "Light Cycle" for the player so they can drop walls.
-Creates Cycles for all players in this manner.
*If a player hits a wall, thier cycle is destroyed along with ANY walls they made. If they stop moving, THEY GET ANHILLATED*
Exchange: Players switch units and items.
Pitfall: If a player steps on it, they are paralyzed for x seconds.
Meteor Shower: Launches searing hot rocks onto the field. If a players is hit by one, it WILL hurt. After landing, the heat radiation will still kill players dumb enough to be near it.

I would suggest that instead, you use stacked Firebats.
I just find Insta-Death to be stupid. Against it, it doesn't matter whether you're godly and can kill the enemy in one hit, or if it's the other way around.
Ya, I was kinda skeptical about the instant death item. Alex, your new ideas are great, but I don't think they would really be useful items (except for show) and they seem to be getting harder and harder to trigger.
Whoops, every time I get a new idea I never think about the triggerwork. Well, it's your game, if you can make the triggers work then that's cool, but if not then at least you got something to think about and base an idea off of. Win-win situation, no? I'll see if I can think of anything else. The only ones I find possible right now (by thought) are:
-Grav Bomb
-Ark
-Pandora requires the use of two comps of the same colour
-Rain Dance
-Echo Blast (maybe)
-Snatch
-Squall
-Artillery Strike
-Corona (depends on how it's done)
-Psyche (difficult)

-Exchange (difficult as to select which guys become whom's)
-Pitfall
-Meteor Shower (without the meteors landing and staying on field)

Yep, there ya go.
Napalm: Creates a flaming zone, burning whoever steps inside it.
Ripper: A favorite weapon of mine from Unreal Tournament, fires a bouncing blade that chops the limbs off of whatever body it hits.
Battle Drone: Creates a battle drone to fight for you.
Malfunction: Forces the next item to be used by the player to malfunction in usage.
Overload: Keeps player's health filled at x percent for x seconds, then is reduced to x percent afterwards.
Spinal Tap: Puts an enemy unit on junkyard dog mode, losing all control.
Cross Beam: Creates a north, south, east and west beam that fly towards player, destroying all in thier paths.
M.A.D: Creates an all out anhiliation swarm. This includes random nukes and Infesteds.
