Okay, I need to know how to make an SCV mine somewhere where there is no minerals and such, and is constantly doing it. Like in "Lazer Tag v. Dark" by |)arkSesshomaru
I just asked Deathknight.
Anyways and I tested it. Ok so you have some minerals somwhere. You have scv. You put a location inbetween the scv and the minerals. You also have a location on an unwalkable terrain like water. So you do a trigger to move the scv whenever the scv goes into the locatoin between the minerals and the scv will mine from there.
I need it to be able to mine in place though, w/o having to go back to a CC.
Yeah thats how it works. Look at map.
huh... funkiness, i did the exact same thing 'cept it had to keep going back to the CC. But thank you, I'll work w/ it i guess.
While i'm asking these things, is there a way to do this w/ Repairing too?
I'd like it to display the repairing effect constantly, but not anything that you can SEE it repairing.
Like this picture shows.
Repairing can't be done with the trick, but you can get an scv to float by trying to complete a building and using the move thing. It also works for vespene geysers (peons will teleport to geyser building) and returning cargo(ore/gas).
Yeah, I have played "Can you do 25 Tricks' you know. And those are glicthes. All I'm trying to get to happen, is the little Repair/Mine/Attack Animation of an SCV to happen. And I need triggers to do it because I want a Computer to do it, not a Human Player.
Also you can do it with gas as well. The scv will be teleported inside the refinery and then come out right beside the refinery and deposit the gas from it's spot.
You can run the AI scripts to make the computer mine. It should have the same effect.
Here is attachment with gas if you want.
Edit: lol..oops I did not read DK's post.
guys, those are disabled sprites. Mr_Mooo_Cow and i spent forever figuring that out.
To get the SCV to repair "nothing," you'll need a cloaked mechanical unit. Set the unit to have 9999 HP, 9999 build time, and have it cost 0 gas/0 ore. Then, make a trigger than runs the AI script 'Expansion Terran Town' (or something like that) at the location where the unit is.
To get the SCV to attack "nothing," make a burrowed or cloaked unit next to the SCV for a separate computer player. Use an AI script to set the burrowed/cloaked unit's computer to enemy, and give the SCV player shared vision. Make sure the SCV does low damage and that the unit (preferrably zerg because they heal) has enough HP and armor to take a lot of damage.
Okay then Weisenheimer 007Torrasque, how do you do it then? This is a forum to tell ME how to do it, not that YOU can do it.
Place an scv sprite
uncheck the box in unit properties(Draw as Sprite)
Check the Disabled?? box
your done
this is what hapenns:
SCV(Acts as if it is mining or attacking and a spark appears in the top left hand corner)

Pirate King's explanation makes the most F.Y.I.
So use the ai script instead of all that other junk.
I would, except that I would have to place extra units and such, and have to edit my SCV stats and another units stats, which I'd like to avoid. So, thank you both qPirateKing and 007Torrasque.

That's what I meant. You can get the
exact same effect if you use the move trigger and move it to an invalid space(so that it doesn't actually move).

It also has a random chance of crashing, but not that often. He wants the spark I bet though.
Anyway, the better way would just be to place a Dark Templar or any other cloaked unit for p12 and to have the computer unally p12 so that the SCV will attack it. That would be the easiest and best effect.

ADDITION:
You people probly already found out but if u take ur frozen scv and tell it to build where it is,
Your SCV is now creating a building without movng!!!I tried to take screenshots but all the extension crap is to much for me!!! maybe thiss'll work...
[attachmentid=6632]
sorry i can only fit one, but u can trust me not to lie... (u guys probly already discorvered it anyway)

Okay, I placed an SCV Sprite.
Unchecked the box. (It turned into a Scourge in SF)
Checked the Disabled?? box.
Saved Game.
Went to test in SC.
This is what happened: It wasn't there.
I tried it a few different ways too (checking both of them, leaving both unchecked, etc.) and on different Tilesets just to make sure. Still, I can't seem to get it.
make sure you copy the scv unit number and put that in the box where the unit number goes
Skip step 20 as it will make your head fall off
Naw

sorry just had to say that.
*ShadowBrood runs away I think the easiest way to get this effect without getting confused is to order the scv to attack a burrowed unit (which you heal constantly (using triggers)).
You could also try cloaking a mineral patch (I don't know if this works, and SC might crash).
If repairing a cloaked mechanical terran unit/building, use triggers to always set the unit's hp below maximum. My advice is not to do it this way, because:
a) cloaked units are easier to see than burrowed ones
b) you probably have to use an AI script, which is less reliable and may interfere with the rest of the map
c) the attack animation is the same as the repair one is the same as the mineral-gathering one
Otherwise there's probably a way using a sprite.
nope the easiest way is with a sprite xD
by the way...i don't c my reply of 24 steps....but i c one msg talking about it.... what happen?
should i post it again?
Don't bother reposting the spam ...
Why can't you just have them attack something out of vision to everyone?
A sprite-unit disabled scv does not have the spark animation and is unstable.
I made it large for the brainless.
Burrowed/cloaked unit, scv attack that, done. Easiest way. You don't even need Starforge/SCMDraft. And you can not deny that this is the easiest way because it is a fact, and facts are true.
Off topic... but, uhm..... whats up with the vastly negative mineral count Ðeath?
Messed up the armies system.
So are you ok with attacking invisible units with the scv?
