Staredit Network -> Ideas -> Items
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2005-03-21 at 00:02:59
I'm feeling bored so I think I'll make a bound with items. Can you think of any?

ideas:
-Speedy Shoes (exchanges hero ling for ling for 1 level)
-Level Skip (hard to get) automatically skips a level

Need more ideas for items.

-Extra Lives (A reasonable amount, of course).
-Safety Swarm (Create a Dark Swarm, and anybody under it is invincible).
-Computer Player (Have a computer show you how to do the level).

Teleport - You get 1 Recall, but if you try to recall any farther then halfway through the obstacle, you die no matter what

Bomb - Stops one square from exploding

Armor - Exchanges your Zergling for a Zealot, your Zealot can survive one explosion, the next turns him back into a Zergling, the next kills the Zergling

Instead of calling it bomb, call it shield. Protects you from X hits.

What if you had an Item that changed the level in some way, making it easier, it would be hard, but doable.

Um... that's what Armor does.
Armor "Protects you from X hits.", while Bomb stops one space from exploding; it can, theoreticaly, prevent you from dieing infinite times if you stood there long enough that it would normally have exploded infinite times, but it could also have absolutely no effect if you never get in that spot when it normally would have exploded.

well since everybody uses a lin g for all bounds.

how about making a scv that picks up items and carrys them.

but the scv has to pick up the item and make it to the finish line. if it doesnt have the item you will loose a life.

item1-temporarily stops the level.
item2-slows the process of exploding.
item3-Load another set of explosions.

GATHERED FROM IDEAS FROM SO FAR: (some I just can't do)

-level pause (something like 1-2 secs not sure yet)
-level slow (maybe, but that is essentially what speedy shoes are for)
-SCV? just... not how I had it planned
-teleport (I'll have to think about how to set it up, but like the idea)
-bomb? Would be to complicated to trigger, take to long.
-armor? But if zealot died then you'd lose your click on ling and die again... maybe
-extra lives

What you could do for armor, is in the regular game, instead of normally killing their zerling, move it to the starting area. (You could then possibly kill a replica of it!) Then for armor, just don't move them back. I realize that this would probably take quite a few triggers, and it would work better (in my opinion) than having a zealot die, so people would have to locate the ling again.

Or for armor, spawn an air units over it named Armor.. Then lings can't die when it has armor over it. But if they get hit by and explosion it kills the air unit. Then they are still vulnerable.

That would be lovely if I could just say:

-ACTION: IF Current Player Commands at least 1 'Armor' at 'Boom' Kill the Armor ELSE kill the ling.

Pity we can't. Would take to long to trigger something like that.

Well you could, with a super advanced explosion system like in Time Up Bound.

I mean in one action rather than spending mucho time to make trigger system.

item1-get a life
item2-Pair up with another bounder. You have to move together (hard) and dodge the explosions but if you make it to the end, you can skip the next level.

I thought of a cool way to get items in this bound of yours. You set up little locations through out the level, and when the player steps on one, they get a civ somewhere. These spots would be on hard areas of the level. (example near the middle of a sucky trap, but on a side that the bounder has to try to reach.) Once they pass the level the locations disappear. Granted this makes the bound seem more like dragon bound or beacon bound, but it would be cool in my eyes. happy.gif

Alright, bomb and armor are easy. I'll tell you that.
I'd also say how to do them if I weren't tired. pinch.gif
It's 11:00AM where I am now, I'll think something up at around 6:00PM and post it.

That's how I was doing it.

Easy... meaning how many triggers? It's not that I CAN'T it's that it isn't worth my time if it is mucho triggers system.

Extra Live
Speed Upgrade
20 sec invincible (which you would be a different unit so the kill trigger doesn't effect you).
Bring back too life (bring a dead player back too life)

I could think of others but those sounded like the best of the ones i came up with.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Rantent on 2005-03-25 at 20:22:50
20 second invincible would be way to cheap, they could just run through the level. smile.gif

And 30 more levels after that. smile.gif

I've seen a trigger... or something in heaven bound that allows the ling to move really really fast!!! faster than normal, the guy said it was speed 200% or something like that. Anyways I think if you could pull it off and make it an item that would be really awesome!!! biggrin.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LethaL on 2005-03-31 at 18:34:10
200% speed is only 4X, which is possible (Player 14 unit).

And triggering wouldn't be mucho dificil, it would actually be really easy to do if you know how (Which isn't hard to find out, either).
