I like it, great job man.

Ah, not bad at all. Though in my opinion, the two lakes in the middle should be widened more towards the middle to create more of a bottleneck, and the area of the high terrain where the players start should be shrunk to force them to use lower ground more for their structures.

But it's your map, of course. ^_^

That would unbalance it completly against the protoss. The base size doesn't seem to be a problem... if you made it too small Zerg would have a huge advantage.

I agree with templar, don't change a thing in the middle.

Wow, this is the first map I have looked at on this site and not be able to yell at the person for 5000 things. This is truly the best map I have seen anyone on SEN come out with. I am going to be really picky to try and think of something to improve.

The ONLY thing I see unbalanced for part of the map is that the bottom right expansion on the island can use tanks and seige the mineral only expo right next to it and the one on the top left cannot. Like i said, this is very picky. To fix this you could lengthen the top of the island and cut out part of the left.

Here is a suggestion, maybe to make it a bit more balanced for zerg, move the gas from the naturals to the expansions close to the water. Then Zerg has a quick expansion before the other players.

Things you did well on this map: Land masses of equal sizes, greatexpansion placement and amounts. Doodads are in great spots and there are plenty. The map looks very nice as well. I see no advantages for any races over the others.

So if I were to give you a 1-10 grade, I give a 10.
I mean it when I say this, Great Job.

oh yea, you may want to toss in a few kakaru... (hey that rhymes!)
BTW: my best friends screen name is Ur238. (there are two numbers for uranium)

I like it, someone glancing at it would not be able to find any problems.

*scans closely for minor mistakes...*

Thanks for ther suggestions and compliments on the map. Im honored that you cant find any problems with it. Im working on another 2v2/FFA map so look forward to that.

There isn't enough gas for zerg. There are only 2 land geysers on each side of the map, and you have to go to the islands to get more. Zerg could not compete mid-late game.

EDIT: Also, is the natural's mineral placement optimal?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yenku on 2005-03-22 at 17:09:03
I dont think the gas is a problem, 1v1 games are usually pretty short. I think there is plenty of gas for zerg. Besides no one goes for mass gaurds or anything, they can get a mix of lings and ultras, or just go hydras and lurks. Therefore i dont think that they would need very much gas.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chef on 2005-03-22 at 17:38:37
Actually ihate has a point... I don't think you can run ultras on less than 3-4 gas. But I can't really give you too much advice on that because I focus on 4 players maps (in which gas nodes are plentiful anyway... however I can tell you that a lot of the 2 player maps I've played had gas in the middle... perhaps gas nodes near the ramps that lead into the middle? I'm unsure how easy it would be to take a zerg's island (theres a cliff right above it). Sorry I've been a little slow the past few days, I'm just exhausted from doing other things. But again, I've don't really play on maps like this too often anymore so it may be quite balanced... though I still like how you could fire down on enemies coming down the expansions ramp from your main... I still think it's a very good but ihate brings up a really important detail about the gas. Sorry I can't be more helpful (and I really should be able to).

I was actually on the brink of saying that he should add a gas somewhere. The reason i did not is because where would you put it?

Left and right high-terrain and top-center and bottom-center expands.

Ok... I thoght they had gases, sorry.

You probably should stop quoting the posts right above yours.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-03-22 at 18:30:15
Ok so should i add it to the high terrain or the low terrain, or both? if i added to both i guess there would be an over abundance of gas which wouldn't be really go either..
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Corporal on 2005-03-22 at 18:32:54
Add them to the low expands. They're more immediately accessible.

Edit: Well maybe not, but they're less immediately accessible to the enemy. =)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chef on 2005-03-22 at 19:47:11
In my opinion, if you're going to choose one of the mineral expansions youve got already add it to the high terrain so players have to fight over it a bit more =/ This would force zerg to scout and protect it early so terran didn't just park at the expansion. Unless that's not the kind of game you want on your map. But I think that's the best option out of the two, having both a vimy style defensive point and an area of high importance to Zerg players (others too but more importantly Zerg) for their 3rd gas. I'm more confident in this than my other post... I didn't realise you were willing to turn the mineral onlys into gas (you seem to have a lot of skill when it comes to map making and I figured that you did this for a reason).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-03-22 at 23:00:25
There should be no difference in resources between 2 player maps and 4 player maps, because most games are done in 1v1. 1 on 1 games almost always last longer than 2 on 2s, anyway, and almost always require more gas.

Zerg needs access to lots of gas (which is why they need to expand all over the place), and without enough they are stuck in in the early-mid game transition.

Where did you come up with the name of the map? I realize that it doesn't matter much but I was interested in how it relates to the map.

Is there any relation?

One of the best maps put up here, gj. but still needs a little tweaking like you said. I say this without playing it but i thnk that t has a pretty good advantage over p. I can see t pushing up by the mineral only expansion near the top and bottom of the map, and being able to hold it without problem. and while the round about path is nice i dont think its enough to move a big p force quickly enough, and i think it can also be held with a minimal t force. then again im really tired.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2005-03-28 at 22:22:28
i called it "Dream Of Vision" because well for one since there are 2 entrances to the nat you will "dream" you had "vision" on which way they were coming. Second is a friend of mine died who played starcraft. His name on West was in fact DreamOfVision.

ADDITION:
PS: Excpect a new version of the map to be out by the end of this week and hopefully a DLable version.

DreamOfVision is dead?! Dude that sucks, he was so cool. Unless I read that wrong (hopefully).

nice map uranium! How long before we can download a version to play?

I would also have to agree with ihatet about the gas issue. Not that I'm saying all the expansions should have gas, maybe just the premium ones on top of platforms.
