I was thinking of making a map together as a team here in staredit.net. Anyone who would like to join please reply, here's a list of maps we could make:

-RPG
-Bound
-Madness (eh)
-Defense
-Survival
-Arcade

Well, if anyone does want to make a map, just post suggestions... I'll be waiting...

I dont think its a good idea, but eh, why not?

I'm fine with the following: RPG, Offense(NOT DEFENSE), or Arcade.

Ok since ent isn't experienced with rpgs, we can all work on an arcade map. The idea has to be simple, yet can be expanded, since most battle.net users are pretty young anyway... Now we start coming with ideas...

-Sports?
-Capture the Flag?
-Misc....

Once we get that down, it'll be easy to figure out the number of players and computers, and after that we can figure the map size, and the terrain. I'm thinking of a map where there is a long ramp, and there is 1 unit who is controlled by a comp that goes left and right. you have a box in the ramp, and the goal is to build a building as the computer unit is in ur box, sounds weird? yes, but innovative, positively...

TRY AND THINK NEW THINGS! w00t.gif

Hmm... im started maping by first editting, sure sounds fun, im in.

Is this just gonna be one entire game, or a multi amount like Starcraft Bash or Super Mario Party?

Yeah I started mapping like that... My first map i edited or started with was Gauntlet Legends... I still think that map is a legend... Well thanks for joining so far we have 4 people (me included) in this project... I'm not sure if we could have a multi game map, would be interesting to see that though... I'm gonna ask for you guys to start throwing ideas down... Otherwise I'm going to throw some of mine, and I have PLENTY... 4 people is a lot for one map, but we can make it 4 times bigger and better. Well using the idea that slyence said maybe we could make 4 games in 1 map, each from us? That would be pretty cool map to play, with the replay value... Think about the possibilities!

hmm ye a multigame map would be cool, maybe a 4 player map with 5 games or something

I'm going to throw in an idea. Terrenblade made a map (not released) where you basically lockdown air units and then stand underthem to kill them. You get points for every air unit killed. It and progresses through levels.

I was thinking we could create a new map for this. I already made a whole new map based off his idea, adding things like a 2nd player on the team so that one person lockdowns, the other kills. And I varied the units used so you get different points for every unit (faster and smaller air units = more points).

What we could do is make several playing grounds for them, possibly add levels (or constantly spawn air units at certain time intervals like I did). Add bonus or puzzle type things. Add features like mana so you can cast spells like slow (queen) or freeze (arbiter/stasis).

Any ideas based off this?

EDIT: His version was pure FFA, mine was team 2v2.

Well we could do this, just how do you make the trigs detect a locked down unit? What if you just brought a unit under a moving unit, wouldn't it kill it? Well if to do this we have exactly 11 air mechanical units, but sounds like really new kind of map. If anyone else would like to submit an idea please do so, otherwise we will start on this map pretty soon.

I forgot to mention that you have to stand under the unit for about 2-3 seconds. We can improve on that by standing under a unit and making the player build a marine or something at a barracks. Triggering the kill command.

EDIT: Here is the map I made. 4 players are REQUIRED.

It would be kind easy to stand for a few seconds under a slow moving unit such as the BC however.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2003-08-03 at 12:16:28
Yeah, but the map, you're getting 1 point for standing under a BC ... but 3 for standing under a wraith. And it does matter in the end when you're saving time going after wraiths.

Ok name the size and tileset and lets get working on it! Also list the players and their roles.

192x192 twilight. I dont want to work on terrain. I was thinking of having about 6 arena's to play on and letting players choose how mand rounds to play and which arena to play on every round ... or randomize everything.

First we need someone for terrain.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ent on 2003-08-05 at 09:43:45
not me for terrain
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Revelade on 2003-08-05 at 11:21:23
I can terrain, but I will need to know what kind (square, diagonal). Just tell me things like we need a place to buy things and I'll put an area for that, I need some outlines to follow because terrain is a really FREE thing like LOTS of combinations. So I'm thinking we do a 6-7 player map and its FFA because team vs team doesn't work that well in SC since team HAVE to be even (or we can add an adjuster...). Well here's my thoughts... I'm gonna put some neat sounds though w00t.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2003-08-05 at 16:28:06
We'll see what sounds to add later on. For now we need it to be squared off. But first we gotta plan out any changes/additions to the map from the one I have made. Any suggestions as to how we could improve it?

I suggested the spells already, it looks like we have those down. I was thinking that buying or casting things would take away from your points. Meaning you would be spending your points, but they would be helping you get even more points overall.

Any more suggestions outside the casting freeze/slow spells? Building a unit at a building to activate the 'kill' trigger. And more arenas/rounds.

since i dont got bw... i can help with the storyline n stuff like the characters n crap.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by chuiu on 2003-08-07 at 22:47:28
There is no story line or need for characters. This is mostly just an arcade map.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2003-08-07 at 23:04:16
so, were using built nukes for kills then? becuse comsat is to fast
And my version was a one team game, you vs the computer.

but anyway, good terrain should have lots of cliffs and shuch to anoy the players, and keep them from seeing everything.

some how I cant think of anything more to add, guess it's back to work on my aracknoid map...

Have these triggers.

Players: One Player, preferably a comp.
Conditions: Always
Actions: Preserve Trigger, Randomize Switch 1, Randomize 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, etc....

Players: Human Players
Conditions: All Switches used above are Set.
Actions: Kill all any unit for Current Player
· Set Resources for Current Player to 0 Ore and Gas
· Display Text: die n00b!!!!!!!!!1111 1 11 !!1
· Preserve Trigger

Then there's a random 1 in 2^X chance of the second trigger firing, where X is equal to the number of switches, which will piss everyone off. A good map always pisses people off with unfair bullcrap!
