This past week, scans from the May issue of GamePro leaked onto the Internet showing what were apparently screenshots from Soul Calibur III. Very few people believed they were real, however, for a number of reasons. The first being that the editor who wrote the preview stated twice how disappointing Soul Calibur II was, even hinting that it was actually a bad game. Strange, considering GamePro gave the game a perfect score when it was reviewed.
Most shockingly, however, was that it was stated that the game would be a PlayStation 2 exclusive. Considering that the PS2 version of Soul Calibur II was considered the weakest by many and the GameCube version was the best selling out of all three versions (Xbox included), this came as a surprise. Given that this was around the time when magazines put out their April Fools news stories, the verdict came in: it was fake.
And we were wrong. The latest Famitsu confirms that Soul Calibur III is in fact a PlayStation 2 exclusive, to be released this fall, ignoring the fact that, again, the GameCube version of the previous game sold the best and the PS2 version had known slowdown.
This comes as a huge disappointment (and complete shock -- which is why we are reporting it) to GameCube and Xbox owners everywhere who were hoping to have Link (or some new Nintendo character) or Xbox Live in the game. While there is no word on how long the game will remain exclusive, one has to wonder how smart of a move this is from Namco.

http://dsrevolution.com/index.phpI think it would be a BIG mistake to release it exclusively... As a SCII fan, I'm highly disappointed by this action.
