I haven't had any experience with this, but i could suggest this.

Spawn and observer or cloaked wraith at the beginning of the level. Have a burrowed unit that no one can see, so the mines will go to attack it.... Next you'lll need the ling to constantly move under the wraith but not so fast the it slows the wraith down.. Now the mines will chase the burrowed ling, make sure they are different comps so the mines will attack the ling.

Pretty smart, but wouldn't that do that if the spider mines explode it does make the others explode too, like a chain reaction? and if one spider mine gets too far behind it will just be burrowed there like it didn't exist, and then if someone is awlking there as mistake that men would be killed?

No its pretty simple... all you do it teleport the burrowed unit near the mine to attract it, then teleport the burrowed somewhere else but that can still move the mine, the problem is that the mine only can move 2 'terrain slots' 1 ending point and 1 starting point

You could use a grid system to place an enemy ling in the direction you want it to move. But grid systems take a lot of work, it depends if you want to do that. You could just remove them and create new ones along a trail to where you want it to go. When they are created they sit on top of the ground for a second and it would look like it is moving.
