I am wondering if I should purchase Wireless internet for gaming. It is my ONLY option. DO NOT suggest that I should get Cable or DSL. I need to know if Wireless internet is capable of smoothly playing games online such as Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, Halo 2, and CSS. Does anyone have expierence with wireless internet?

It really lags sad.gif

I got wired and everything went smoother. I think it's because in the air some packets aren't picked up so you miss some stuff. And for real-time gaming, it isn't the best choice.

One of my friends has wirless internet, and he says it's horrible, that he can barely even run Team Fortress or the orignial Half Life without it lagging bad and sometimes even crashing from ping.

You should get Cable, or DSL biggrin.gif
If it is your only option, then do it, it's probably better than dial-up, or nothing :/

I'm on wireless internet right now. Works great and didn't cost much.

I actually have a friend who has a computer upstairs and downstairs. How computer upstairs (wireless) has speeds up to 200kb faster than the one downstairs. Though the computer upstairs is also newer. (he gets up to 700kb/sec downloads)

So wireless isn't really bad unless you have a poor computer or poor ISP.

I've had wireless internet for about 2 years now. I'd say it doesn't neccesarily lag that much, but it disconnects a lot from games.

Plus it usually puts up tons of wirewalls which can cause problems. Other then that I say gogogo.

I think ppl should say wireless network w/ internet?

I mean I've actually once played Starcraft on a laptop hooked to internet via a cellphone. This and possibly a satelite dish I would consider "wireless".
