Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> ~sigh~ Hacks Plague StarCraft again...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LordVodka on 2005-03-25 at 19:52:44
Well this is great news isn't it? Fun! Fun! More hacks for us true players to worry about... Before I get into the gruesome(sp?) details of the whole situation, I just gotta say one las' thing......

THIS SUX!!!!

Okay... Anywho, here are the new hacks that we gotta worry about:

New Name Spoofer: Not much harm, but still, another hack... (kinda funny at times though...)

Color Hack: Colored Text (nuthin' new here...)

Map DL Status: Can't say this is a bad one really, but again... still, another hack.

TempLock: This one, after a game, will kick you off of B.Net for about 5 minutes. VERY ANNOYING!

BanProtection: Cannot Be banned from a game with this one.

(Here's one my personal favorites.... disgust.gif )
AttackHoverIncomplete: During the game at any time, they can crash EVERYONE and display the error "Attack Hover Incomplete..." message. This crashes everyone except the user, and the only anti-hack to it is within the hack.

MapHack: Nothing new, and there are easy ways to detect by watching the replay... until now. This newer one actually hides it when you click a unit that you can't even see, so, watching the replay for them clicking something in nowhere don't work no mroe. It also protects them against the Independent Command Center.

ChatLogger: Saves ALL chat said in a game, including Ally Chat.

StayAlive: Allows a person to stay in a game after Defeat or Draw.

AllyAlert: Auto-Un-Allies when someone does it to them..

UnitSuicide: This is kinda pointless... but yea, a hack, and it kills their own units.

LagDefender: Disables the Lag Screen and allows them to look around and make unit commands.

InstantDrop: This makes it so when a Drop Screen comes up, they can instantly drop them no matter how much time left.

ColorHack: Allows typing in colors. (STILL A HACK!)

OxOc Crash: Allows the person to select the people in the game that he wants to crash, and uses this at the end of the game to crash all of their SC's that he selected.

SaveGame: Allows them to crash everyone by typing in a #.

ByPassChannel: Allows them to bypass channel restrictions and bans.

StartGameW/OOpponent: Allows them to start w/o an opponent. (Still hacking)

CrashProtection: Protects them from ALL the possible crash hacks out there.

That is all for now.... anywho... i'm just getting pissed and if anyone knows how to make anti-hacks or something, please for the love of god do so!

OH! one last thing, just because i KNOW of all of these, does NOT mean that I use them. I can safely say that I am not such a bad player at SC that I need to use these to enhance my ability. Thank you very much tongue.gif! So, please, no accusations of me being one of these wusses that use these.

Ah Starcraft will always be infested with hacks. No matter how many times Blizzard makes patches for these hacks, people rewrite programs to bypass these, so were all screwed disgust.gif But I play mostly UMS games so I'm not that worried as you would be in melee games mellow.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LordVodka on 2005-03-25 at 20:00:45
That may be, but all of those aren't used in just Melee, in fact, the majority of the people that use these, use them in UMS. The Maphack is a favorite for games like snipers and lazer tag. Also, I don't care what games you play, the Crash/Drop hacks are still something a UMS player should worry about.

So basically people this is how it is:
Beware of the Use of Hacks, for you may and will get hit eventually, like many of us have mad.gif

There are various "leaked hacks" including an addon placement crash that can be used with any unit, an SCV hack that allows it to "finish building" any building, even if it isn't his own, and even if it isn't a terran building he can also "help build" buildings to make them build at double the speed, he can also do it to units, and it can definitely ruin a zerg game. There's also a probe hack that allows a probe to build from anywhere on the map. Then there's a floating drone hack too, and another one that allows peons to mine from anywhere on the map as well.

Not pointless, think Team Arena. Big advantage happy.gif.

LOL! Very true, but for all reasons and purposes, all the others are more useful than that other than to just have fun killing your own stuff right in front of people.

Who cares. Seriously. That's why most of use got 20+ friends on thier list. To play friendly games.

Another reason for the map night also. Basically, I don't see why anyone would like to play a game with strangers by these times...

Oh by the way, for anyone who looks at this and thinks about downloading any of these hacks:

I apparently read somewhere that one of the superhacks for 1.11b called damned or something, was backdoored. The hack creator now has thousands of CD keys (starcraft and windows) just because so many people needed to cheat to win.

I have no doubt that some of these most likely contain the same type of a thing.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LordVodka on 2005-03-25 at 22:31:56
Yes, it is true that the WIDELY used hack program called 'damnation' is backdoored to send all the needed information directly to him. So, I feel sorry for anyone who does this with all this info. Thanks for bringin' that up Yoshi.

Encourage hacking, then! Jesus!! xD

I'd say thats more like discouraging it. If you want to go buy a new copy of Starcraft just because you like to use hacks, be my guest. I have much more fun making websites, and playing awesome maps with people from here.

How does it work?

Damn... imagine if those were, rather then hacks, custom map settings that can be put in maps... that would own...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LordVodka on 2005-03-25 at 22:44:40
No it wouldn't, because that would enable anyone smart enough to take off Map Protection can easily insert those things into the map and make them all spread over B.Net like a disease defeating StarCraft.

ADDITION:
However, I see absolutely nothing wrong with the Map Download Status hack. In fact, that one i think blizzard should put into SC. That way, we all know who's DLed the map and who hasn't.

Well said? WELL SAID? He didn't get on SC for 1 month!!

I've actually seen some of these hacks in action. blink.gif

I was in a game where someone demonstrated some of these hacks. And I know someone else that uses these hacks... I have some screenshots. One of the people was spamming so much I was seeing him on the lag window but he was still spamming >_>.

This has happened to me.. once. Basically it causes Starcraft to crash and you go to desktop and you see an error message (not the triangle with the ! kind, it's the red circle with the white X kind) that says "attack hover incomplete". Thank god it's not the type of error message that doesn't go away. If it were that then it would be MUCH more annoying.. you'd have to reboot your computer just to do something again!

Unfortunately... I cannot upload the type of file the screenshot is in. If there is a way of converting a PCX file to a JPEG or something of the sort without downloading any programs tell me.

I'm saying, it would be a good thing if there were ways to make a map in UMS that allowed you to mine from anywhere, finish building any building, etc.
What did you think I meant?

I was asking how it works, not what it does...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Talrathis on 2005-03-27 at 02:28:10
Well my best guess as to how it works is it creates something that's not in the game so the game doesn't know what to do so it crashes and displays the "error message"

Here's a hack! It converts temperatures for you and then crashes!! YAY!!!
BTW I made it with alot of boredom and a request from a friend.

AHI - Attack Hover Incomeplete.

It works by issuing an "illegal command", a unit command that is valid, but there are no buttons for, leaving the ordinary gamer unable to use it. The hack works when selecting a command, you have to "set your target" and click. Well, the command used for "move" or "attack" is changed with the hack, making it usable for any unit, any time. Many other illegal commands like "Die" can be issued using the same method.
