Staredit Network -> Ideas -> Creative Dance Map Idea

I've been pondering throughout my mind about a map sort of like D2B by Mp(U). But this map would be alot more like in the arcades when you jump on a arrow when the arrow is highlighted at the top of the screen. I have a completely thougth out idea on how too do this.

You would divide the lower half of a 128x128 into two. These two rectangles would be divided into 2x2 square locations. At the top of each rectangle 4lightly colored arrows in a row going horizontal. One up, down, right, and left. These four arrows would be used too indicate which beacon too go too. At the top of the screen there would be a set of different little islands. The first island would be too chose mode, Challenger or 1v1. Challenger would be you vs. the music which would be basically dance too the beat and if you dont mess up more then 5 times you move on too the next level. 1v1 would be you vs another human in which you dance too the song of your choice and try too beat eachother. Another island would be for difficult (easy, medium, or hard). Also a island would be for music selection (a big variety).

How it works:
You would have each all of the bottom half of the map divided by 2x2 squares. There would be a create trigger too create the units into forming the correct arrow. In order too show them before you have too do it they would spawn at the very bottom of the bottom half of the map. From there you would use a mass of move units at location triggers too make the arrow on the minimap appear to be dragging up. From there it would move onto the lightly colored arrow and form a brighter color. This would indicate too have perfect timing. You would set triggers too were if only part of the arrow was on the highlighted part you would read the message "Okay". If it was perfectly highlighted you would get "great". If you miss it would say "Miss". If it says perfect you get 5 minerals. If it says okay you get 2 minerals. If it says miss you get two minerals. After each round, you will have time too use your minerals too buy upgrades such as speed and extra lives.

Over all it would be like a small party map. It was just an idea, and i may use it after finishing Resident Evil Conspiracy. Over all it is alot of work but i just thought ide share the idea with the public. If you need me too explain the triggers a little more, please feel free too ask. Also please leave comments.

I think there already exsists a DDR map that does pretty much what you said. I haven't played it but it was in the dldb. Plus having lots of music would make the map pretty huge, and would you have different combinations of arrows depending on the song? I think it would be pretty cool if it worked, but it seems like it would be kinda time consuming, if you wanted to have people press buttons to the beat.

I never got around too playing DDR either. Music wise several simple 3-10 second long beats luped exactly right makes perfect for dancing. Also, you would basicly have a little island. One beacon at the top for the up arrow one on left for left arrow one on right for right arrow one on bottem for bottem arrow. Too know which one too hit, you look on the minimap and watch the arrows. And yes you would need a veriaty of arrow combinations. And it would be very time consuming but i know it would be alot of fun.

actually... having the response system be moving a civ or something to beacons isn't a good idea if you figure in response time and the time it takes to get the civ to move to the beacon. You should make it either creating units (using hotkeys, of course), where the bottom part of the map would make an M for marine, etc. and you press that hotkey while you have a barracks selected, or you should make it 4 siege tanks in each direction. Those would be faster response systems by far. Although I wouldn't recommend the siege tanks idea because the hotkey would expire when you siege a tank because you need to kill it and put a new one there.
I'd go with the barracks idea, it's faster than a unit running to a beacon.

yep that has been invented but it sucked anyway. can you do it better?

Well what if we used a dropship? You could easily hotkey one of those, then have a unit named up down left right loaded into the drop ship. With hypers it could reload very fast.

The biggest problem with dropships is that if you unload a unit twice sometimes it will glitch and unload that unit and the unit after that. It's hard to explain pinch.gif

I'd advise you to use buildings.

DDR = Left Down Up Right

You can use some songs from FFR where they even have the stepfile.

I can't do this project right now though. Thats why i put it in idea's because it's just something i had in mind for a future map, i already have too many maps in the making right now too start this one.
