Its a advantage on some ums maps.

Big advantage. Killing a unit can't be instant. If someone wants to kill his own units, they need to WORK AT IT. They need to order a unit that could be MINING MINERALS to kill it! And all that time could cost him 50 minerals, so basically the hack could give him +50 minerals. You think that's a good thing?

Ally Alert. Where's the surprise in a backstab game? Backstabs mostly happen in comp stomps, and you want people in comp stomps to get their cheapy ass wins?

They could mine a lot of minerals then max out with attacking units and scv's or w/e then kill his scvs(or mining thingy) then get even more attacking crap...

crazy.gif what did i say?? i make no sense...

The reason (I think) they don't have locked teams like some other games do is for backstabbing because they want it to be real and in real life you can get backstabbed anytime.

If you played Tob vs Bottom, there are locked teams.

Hacks are anything that gives a advantage that wasn't of game design. Making your units commit suicide can actually help you bring your supply levels down faster.

Actually it isn't. Most of the time in which I backstab is in Top vs Bottom games. The teams are already pre-set since the game waiting window.

You cant kill the locations that ban. Only the beacon.

the only really good-willed hack is the Map DownLoad Status hack. Which tells the person with the hack who has Downloaded, and who hasn't. IF a person already has it, it will show 100 next to their name.

I think he's talking about the map type (where you select either UMS, Melee, FFA, Greed, TvB, Teams, etc.etc.) not the game name (Like 'T v B JOIN!!!')

That tells you who you've allied, not who's allied you.
Though, you can test by sending a single cheap unit(eg. Zergling) to all your allies, and leaving them near the Bunkers.
If they ask why the Zerglings are there, ask them why it matters. A single Zergling won't be able to backstab well.

Unit Suicde:if they kill there own units...whats the big deal?

There are uses, if I could think of them(such as Uberena and Team Micro).
Open Rpg's: Select to get upgrades. Poof, suddenly all the upgrade buildings are yours.
Kill them all, no one can upgrade, and the map doesn't give a damn because no one that's made Open Rpg's expected a unit suicide hack. This works for many, many other Rpg's, too.

Lazer Tag. You can kill your unit and rechoose without giving anyone a kill.

In any of those Rpg's in which you get a spell that lets you take control of a unit, if you're fast enough, then you can control a boss unit and suicide it before it's given back to comp.

He was saying that if it's a "Kill the Medic/Civilian/whatever To BAn" method, not "Bring To Beacon". Also, even if it is a "Bring to Beacon" ban, then if you kill your own beacon, then the host might not be able to tell where your beacon is.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LordVodka on 2005-03-29 at 19:30:57
Well, as for banning people anymore, either way the person can get banned. If its a bring to beacon, the location will still be there meaning he can still be banned if the host brings it there. As for the kill*UNIT*, then they'll will end up banning themselves, because the unit will no longer be there.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2005-03-30 at 19:49:51
Not necesarily. The host might have made the trigger be based on P#'s kills, not on PBanned's commanding of the unit, or death of unit.
Unlikely, but whatever. My other examples are still valid.

As I said, it could still cause problems.
In a massing game, the map maker decided(quite stupidly, in my opinion) to use Flag Beacons for the 'Bring Me To Mass Player' markers.
I used the Place COP to put mine in the corner of the massing selection area, and people didn't know it moved, and therefore thought the tirgger was gone/dead, or that the game was rigged, and so forth. It would be POSSIBLe to mass me, but you'd have to know where the location is.
All this would apply to banning, too.
