It balances itself out because the leader of the pack will get bad units, and then people will kill him and also get bad units. In the end, everybody will be stuck with 1 hp broodlings XD. However, an incentive to get kills will be that you need X kills to win.
ROFLCOPTER! This is a silly idea. I sort of like it because most evolves/madnesses are rigged. This actually balances itself out. Although you can't expect me to play this because I don't really like madnesses/evolves. Sounds funny though...

Bolt is right. All you need to do is not kill anyone and hoard the best units. When everyone has crappy units, you kill their spawner/bunker and win the game. No strategy intended.
i like the idea i think someone should make the map... i like how to person with the most units would attack another person and get tons of kills then he woudnt attack as good...

If the idea was more indepth and had something that inspired people to attack then it may be differant. But anymap where you do the best by doing nothing is a bad idea. Its like don't look at the dot all over again.
Maybe if you started with the buff looking units, and later got the weeker looking ones that were actually stronger then it would be differant. Or if everyone DeEvolved at the same time.
Or here is a good idea, you can have a counter for each player counting down to the time they DeEvolve and killing would delay the process. That way the players have to fight so they DON'T evolve.

I came up with a very similar idea for a map called "devolves" long ago, as an improvement on the then-current "E V O L V E S".
Since the units you get are based on your kills score, my anti-snowballing/balancing idea was to slowly (but constantly) decrease each players kills score. The higher your score, the faster your score decreased. This would give the player on the highest score the most pressure to attack, or lose his advantage. The idea here is that if you fight, your score will increase and your units upgrade, whilst if you don't, then your units downgrade - so you encourage fighting between players, which is the way it should be.
The idea is kind of like an upkeep system (or you could make it like one), with stronger units requiring a higher cost. You could also have an 'upkeep' system based on the number of units you control, to prevent players from hoarding units.
If you didn't start with the most basic unit, but say the 3rd unit up, you could encourage fighting between players to occur faster (instead of each player just sitting for a long time building up forces and waiting for the opponent to attack them).
But I wouldn't start at the very top and only go down (as in your system), because then there would be no incentive to attack at all, making it advantageous to simply sit aside while all the other players both weaken each other's forces and get weaker units.
The game also becomes much less interesting if you devolve too many times, and the game will only get slower as your bunker gets relatively stronger.
We can make it that your bunker starts to "degrade" if your kill score starts flaling.
I like the idea, but you'll have to change all their units to the new units instead of just making new units appear

Well if you continue to get heros they could be stronger. But even if there not they would seemly get stronger. Also if you use my decay method then you could have the last evolution be your bunkers death.
Well, you guys gave me an idea. You can evolve AND devolve. Every minute, there is a quota. To evolve, you have to get say, 25 kills all within a minute of eachother. However, once you get to level 2, which meant you got 25 kills all within a minute, you then have to get AT LEAST 25 kills EVERY MINUTE. If you dont make the quota, you devolve a level!
To get to level 3, its like the above except change the 25s to 35s etcc.
Only problem is that this system cannot incorporate slower units, as they cannot get to the battlefield in time to help make the quota.
I would think that 25 units in one minute is very few for a madness. But you could find that out by testing. Also you might want to start in the middle of the spectrum. So like you start out with leve 10 units so you can ither Evolve or Devolve.

Meh... Errr... Its awkward... very unique too... but you do have a point in evening out... but it is sorta silly like (U)Bolt_head said... I don't exactly like the idea But no offense and you can ignore me if you want and go on makeing your map. I never want to interfere or stop a map in the process of being made unless it is really,really,really, horrible (no offense devolves is not a horrible idea... I just don't agree)

Whats with you and the word Sweden? Anyone can take that paragraph and find pretty much any word possible, I apoligize this isnt on topic, but im annoyed how hes doing this in the threads.
I like the idea. It'd make for non-traditional gameplay at least.

devolves....i dont like madness maps 1.they lag and 2.i lose ><
anyways, the map could be a good idea if you add a couple things to it and not just a mass attacker(eg spells)
Shit! I was just finishing playing an evolves game today thinking what would happen if the game was backwards... I decided to make a map and I've got terrain and partial triggers but this is officially your idea now so enjoy it.
