Seriously, "Molly", you're obviously seriously misinformed about Internet Explorer all the way.

You're absolutely right. Internet explorer is sometimes required to view webpages. Why is that? Because Internet Explorer isn't complying with universal internet standards. If you actually did a little homework instead of posting like a know-it-all, then you would find that IE doesn't support PNG or the new CSS properly. IE is behind in the times.

People are abandoning Internet Explorer, for a good reason. Its flawed. It was poorly designed. All they did with all the previous versions of Internet explorer, was increment the version number, slap in a modified skin, fixed a few of the things they screwed up on, and proudly slapped on the microsoft logo.

It is still not user friendly, slow, gives you spyware, has many security loopholes which never get fixed, and they update internet explorer just about as fast it took me to realize how much research you did. Never.

Personally, I'm into web design , and its frankly annoying to have to bend over to IE just because a couple of misinformed users like you need to browse the internet with a timebomb.

Looking on the bright side though, if you keep using internet explorer, your computer will eventually stop working, and you will be unable to write any further unresearched articles to waste my time with.

The plugins and abilities on Firefox far surpass Internet Explorer. Blocking mainstream ads, no popups, tabbed browsing, wonderful downloads manager, awesome skins, faster browsing and much more. Firefox is for the people.

Firefox > Internet Explorer.

Times I had to switch to Internet Explorer: Zero.
Times Firefox crashed: Zero.
Times Internet Explorer crashed: One Trillion.

what with most sites using that pesky nonstandard IE code

OM censored.gif ING GOD
There is no "IE CODE". There's only CSS, DOM, JAVA, HTML, XHTML, ,and others. IE is supposed to comply to those standards, not make a "IE code", and that's exactly what they did.

Firefox will eventually end up like IE if people puts too much trust on it tongue.gif

FYI: Me and Isolated Purity have to actually make a SEPERATE css file for itnernet explorer so it doesn't mess up the page. Thats how bad it is.

Which is why you should ONLY support Firefox. Enforce your oppinions, and make the site completly non-compatible for IE. It'll teach all these f*#$(*@!!

Some people can't get Firefox (parents wont let them blah blah blah). We don't want to drive away users from SEN...

Why is there no way to check for updates from within the browser, for one thing? Why does it take so doggone long to launch? Why, why must it crash every single time I open a PDF?

Because it automatically checks and tells you if you need an update. It doesn't, get Mozilla and use the quicklaunch feature if your computer is that inferior. It doesn't. Get a new computer if yours is really that inferior.

Those are som false accusations she likes throwing around.

Firefox still bugs me when I use it... I don't know why. I suppose its just because I'm not used to it.

IE doesn't support PNG

If your talking about an image extention of .png, it does support it.

Anyways, I don't really care. I don't like firefox, I don't like IE, I don't like any. I use IE because mine is pretty much as good as Firefox is supposed to be with only a few addons. But meh, I'll never get Firefox again, I just didn't like it. If worse comes to worse, I'll code my own biggrin.gif

PNG? Sure IE can display a PNG ... but it doesn't support everything the PNG was made for. And it certainly won't support APNG ... probably ever.

Here's IE's support for alpha transparency in .png:

Now here's real support:

Hahah, she is so freaken retarded. No idea what's shes talking about.

Crashing everytime on pdf files? Um, I'll admit it's sometimes slow to load it on my computer, but it works way better to IE. Spyware? Times I've had to run Ad-aware when using IE: 3 times per day. Since I've started to use Firefox: 3 times per month. And even then, I get none.

Not to mention open source, extensions, themes, and simply a better interface. Crashes? Pfft, never had a crash. Ever.

Firefox will always beat Explore because it's made by dedicated people, not people who are paid to do a crappy job.

The only time I ever use IE is when I'm at a friends house. He can't go to firefox's site because his dad blocked it. *cough works for Microsoft *cough

Oh I didn't know you were one of those "ZOMG I CANT SEE" people. Yeah being blind does hinder your ability to see the benefits of Firefox.

My resolution is at 1280x1024 and I can read my sig clearly 5 feet away from the screen. You have to be blind or have a screen resolution 2x that or have a really tiny monitor or a combination of those to have trouble reading my sig.

Hey um, speaking of APNG has it been developed yet? I'd like to try it.

Theres one huge problem with firefox. And that is, that theres not enough to complain about. Thus, this stupid lady, has to make things up to complain about, so other horrible morons will think shes smart somehow, follow her instructions, get loaded with spyware, and their computer dies.

Hmm... maybe this isn't so bad afterall.

Yes but I'm pretty sure Mozilla won't support it until ***, sorry I dont know when they will support it. It will probably in the near future (1 or 2 years). Just Google it. :/

Umm, I just want my tabbed browsing and a sexier SEN.
Firefox: The load times are slower and and the bootup times suck.
IE: Have to putup with the goddamn errors all over the place and it's scrollbars suck. SUCK.

Overall I use IE, becuase I don't like waiting. I bet for most everyone firefox goes 200% faster than IE. It's most likley my computer or gay DSL.
Oh well sad.gif.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by IsolatedPurity on 2005-04-01 at 03:29:02
Firefox only sucks for loading huge tables (like in phpmyadmin ;/). Boot up times are a little longer and memory usage is a lot bigger, but it's worth it. Also, I think IE 7.0 will be a stand alone product and not embedded into the OS, meaning, it'll probably have just the same effects as firefox.

Firefox's download manager sucks, IE doesn't have one.

Firefox likes to download pages sometimes instead of navigating them. I also get a lot of "document contains no data" popups constantly, and firefox does not like frames it seems. Could just be phpmyadmin though, but, firefox gets annoying inside it.

IE's annoyances greatly outweigh firefox's though, and I'm sure firefox will fix them soon. And teb page developer plugin is so sexy, clapping.gif for yoshi for showing me it.

I need to find a sexy firefox skin.

If IE 7.0 has it's own seperate priority code, away from standards and ie 6.0 even, I refuse to code for it. Either they censored.gif it up again EXACTLY like 6.0 or comply to standards fully. I'm not going to deal with three different styles for one page because of microsoft.
We'll see.

That woman sounds like the person who likes to be controversial just because she can be.

I expect she doesn't know anything about the Internet beyond the World Wide Web and e-mail, either.
