I know this is a stupid question but what are the minerals on the foroums for???

Considering you're new here, it's not that stupid. The minerals are for the RPG that is installed on the forums. You can read all about it in the Garbage and Off Topic forums, as many of your question should be answered there. To access the RPG, go to the main page of the forum (not the site, but the forum). Near the top, there should be a bar and a menu with the words "RPG Navagation:" beside it. Click the dropdown menu and explore to your hearts content.

Every post(except those in the Garbage forum) gives you 5 minerals. Making a new topic scrapes in a 10 for you.
The bank(is supposed to) give you interest every 2 hours, 10% interest. However, everytime you put some minerals in your bank or take some out, the 24 hour timer STARTS OVER. The best way to get interest is to put a huge amount in the bank, and just wait for it to build up, never adding anymore. Hope this helps.
