Staredit Network -> Ideas -> An Enclosed Existence (RPG)

I'm thoroughly dissatisfied with what happened to various other ideas I've had for RPGs. The foundations tended to be based one visual, something I could never truly make with Starcraft, but also not large enough at all to build an entire map upon. The RPG I started, using Ice Terrain, has been entirely scraped, partially because of the fact that the ice tileset is a real bitch to work with. So, here's my idea:
This one place, this one city. It is all that anyone knows about. Great walls surround it, and the gates are locked. They have conceived no weapon capable of striking them down. So, they have simply lived. One man, his name is not spoken, had been baffled by the walls. Surely, there was something beyond them. He devoted his life to going beyond them. It was his passion, it was his life, it was his purpose. but his devotion drove him past the point of even vague sanity. Two people, a mother, a father, whose names are no longer spoken, were murdered by this man, and in his last moments, he killed himself. There only child was taken in by the priests and religious figureheads of the temple, at the precise center of their world. It is old, perhaps older then the walls themselves. But no matter. His name is not known, nor is he reffered to. They wish to forget. Now, he is on the verge of manhood. The priests see it fit that he is initiated the proper way, the common costume of boys on their last bit of childhood: try to climb the wall. You take the role of this boy two weeks before this test. A thoughtful boy, seeking to follow in the footsteps of the man who killed his parents... there must be something beyond those walls...
The system I will be using will be a merge of realism and fantasy. You will, of course, grow tired, get hungry, etc. There will also be various magics, skills, and weapons at your disposable, and likely even a battle system. The early game play will be mostly puzzle-based. One player, obviously.

Sounds good, but i really cant say much considering you always scrap your maps.

I've never really thought them out before. I really am going to finish this one.
