My first ever non-divided-into-fours submitted melee map. (Crazy mouthful.....)
Size: 128x128
Tileset: Twilight

Since i updated the map...the first posted image ain't gonna be good anymore. X-\

Updates:
4/3/05: Changed blue's expansion. Instead of more patches, less per patch, i'm just sticking back with the old 1500min 5000gas stuff....killed the crazy spread like heck minerals.....added roooooooom...screwed around with the basilica a bit....

4/5/05: Killed some of blue's gas. Stupid vespene overloadage. Removed old versions. Don't need them here, do I?

EDIT NOTE: Yep, this is my "I'm Bored" project.....It's to tell i'm REALLY bored.

CRAP! I already went through all the trouble of creating a pic, I didn't read the post I guess.

This map is unbalanced. There are randomy placed expansions, uneven chokes, and too many high things for tenks to perch on. To make a map i reccomend that you start with a symmetrical feeling, dont give players different opportunities, and give them evenly placed minerals.
Hmmm, the name to this map is a bit odd too. Mazed paths? Thats kinda plain.

While Red and Teal start in relatively the same position, Blue has a whole different scenario for him.
1 or two things can happen with this.
Red and Teal attack each other by the top area and Blue does nothing. Or Both players decide to attack south engaging Blue in a 2 front war.

There are snigle mineral patches placed in random locations all over the map which is bad becasue no one will make a whole expo base just for 1 patch.
Blue has the easiest access to the big expansions.

I see an expansion in the bottom middle area with 4 gas patches. Blue has easy access to it and he will have more gas than both the other plaeyrs combined.

Lots of cliffs and chokes which is good for Terran.
Zerg may have a hard time if it goes lings/ultras/hydras becasue he can't mass efficiently beacsue of all those chokes. The untis will just wander off.
Not a lot of space for protoss.

Don't place resources like that... you have them scattered around, and in that one spot they are in a square. Look at actual pro-leuage maps for how the place minerals.

Played this against a comp twice. I was blue once and the comp was blue once. I pwnxored the comp while I was blue and the comp pwnxored me when it was blue.

Conclusion: Blue is frumpin rigged.

First, it wouldnt matter if he played with one comp or seven comps, he was just testing the maps.

Second, if he were playing at a very casual level, and coincidence if it might that the comp as blue beat him, hes obviously saying something about the imbalance in blue.

But computers arent smart enough to use a maps potential, you should test with a human who can asses situations and use terrain to advantage. Otherwise you dont know as many flaws.

Thanx for picture Taz.

Minerals scattered all over map probably are more "natural", but will probably end up just serving as cosmetic features. I don't konw if it would be worth expanding to mine from 1 mineral patch. This map definitely has a UMS feel as you've said this is your specialty.

Well it may not be cosmetic but i definately has no use. Think. Spending 400 minerals, 50 for each SCV to mine one mineral patch. Only 2 scvs can mine it at a time.

The two sides of the map seem unbalanced. The player that starts in the top left quadrant of the map would be supreme as opposed to the others and have better chances of victory.

Work on it.

Your kidding right?
Can you explain how red is supreme? If you think that red can get tanks and prop them up every where, your dead wrong. They have no clear expo, how could they get many tanks? Even mutas. ANd what could they afford as toss with no real expo?
Red is about even to teal.
Blue on the other hand, has four gas expos and minerals right next to his base. They can all be protected from one spot.
