Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mp)MinigameEast on 2005-04-03 at 20:45:53
ok im making a fog of war map and seems like i want 8 human players and no computers. but is there a nuetral player that has vision for all players?
or is there a trigger for it? without walls or detectors that everybody can see what are the units

I don't know.

Moved to mapping assistance.

why not just put lots of map revealers?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ultimo on 2005-04-03 at 23:58:36
Since map revealers don't see cloaked units?

Then why not just make everyone share vision with everyone else?

While with many map revealers.

I don't know. Isn't my map >_< What if the neutral player( p12 ) owns a dark templar? And I don't think map revealers share vision.

I think he's talking about cloaked p12 units since he doesn't want to use detectors

I'm sure as hell you can see all P9+ cloaked units without detectors.

what im talking about is 4 players vs 4 players.
i cant use a computer to allie with all of them.
is ther a nuetral unit that can do the samething as allie a computer, that is neutral player 12 and up. since that player 161 can see cloaked units can it do the same or is there another player that has allie and vision.
since the map i have the nuetral units, the human players cant see them unless they have to walk towards them.
plus all of this is done in starforge

Player 12 is not an ideal player to use. When other players leave, their units are given to player 12. You can only use share vision AI scripts for players 1-8 without a mod. If you want to mod it in, just edit the AI scripts and have a few that allow players 9-12 to vision the player running the script.

I also wish to do this and have a 4v4 map, because my map goes over the too many units way too soon when i give all of them map revealers, so i decided to have player 1 have 1 set of map revealers, and just share vision with all, but when player one leaves, all vision goes away, or if there is no player 1, so no i cant use random start location because of this. is there a better way to do this? maybe we can get an answer for both of us.

fine ill tell you again. i am using starforge on this map and im using a nuetral player P256 (255) and P161 (160). is there a way to set them as allie with vision so i can see them in fog or war without using detectors, map revealers and etc?
the only thing i can do right now is walking towards them to see them?
but my map is 4vs4 so i cant use a computer to put allie and vision or nuetral.
so is there a trigger to make nuetral units to allie with vision?
or is there an another player that can do the same?
or is there a trigger that can only see the location of that trigger (like a lightbulb at a location)?
also im using dark templars as selectors becuace that makes the other team even harder not to cheat.

why not just put lots of map revealers?

cant the whole field has to be dark except the nuetral players

true but the light blue color will look ugly so thats why im using nuetral P255.
and also i made it when a player leaves and it gives it too P12 everything will die that owns P12 in units (men)

If this is for your Nexus destroyers map then just use powerups to represent cloaked units.

Player 255 is not neutral. It is undefined.

Use player 85, you have shared vision with it. I think you do.. you can see its Dark Templars with no detectors...

But be warned, it drops Mac users.

I'll do some testing.
