Arcturus Mengsk desperately needed to rebuild his forces after Omega. The local rebels had other ideas.

After taking a short break and rethinking some of my "concepts", I present to you Consolidations. Please continue to give comments and feedback.

This map looks much better than you last ones!

However, the starting locations are so close, toss doesn't have to scout, and terran can't wall. What about proxy gates? How can anyone defend against that?

Hey, this map is pretty good. Its got an ok amount of expansions, chokes at main, lots of high ground to protect from.
The high ground is also a problem, at main, terran can easily hold off ground attacks with tanks. Might put zerg and toss at a disadvantage.
Heres some tips for later maps, lay off the plain straight edge terrain. Vary it some. With straight edges I find it quite boring. There are a lot of wide open spaces which are bad because it is hard to micro without cover or curves.

I'm sorry if I'm not up-to-date with all of your terms. What does "proxy gate" mean? Excuse my ignorance.

I guess I could make those high ground triangles at the choke low ground, but that would make the expansions more vulnerable.

Here are some of my thoughts and suggestions:

- You have nearly three easily defendable expansions, all three with gas. pinch.gif
- Maybe you can have it so that the expo right behind the main can be accessed by land. Im thinking a route through the middle side expo.
- Expos on the middles sides: take out gas?
- How about ramps leading up to those outposts?
- The two are really close to each other.
- Maybe widen up the middle and push back some of the jutting outposts? Right now, all the action thatll take place is on that inverted-S.


ADDITION:
Proxy - such as proxy rax or proxy gate - is when your opponent builds his fighting unit structures really close to your base. That means instead of traditionally building in his base, he'll put his gateways or his barracks right outside your entrance, and sometimes inside your base for faster attack.

Also, the first thing I noticed when looking at the minimap was how straight the terrain was. Im not a fan of that, and you dont see a lot of maps like that, since theyre usually not that pleasing to the eye. It works on some maps, such as Blade Storm, but only because it has that certain flair and theme to it.

Well, I made some adjustments based on what you said, resulting in:

EDIT: I know of proxies as "offensive [buildings]". Thanks for clearing that up.

This will probably be the last of my "straight" maps.

I don't mind straigh maps. There are actually quite a few maps like that (3 of which are on pgtour).

Proxy gates are still too strong. I'll 1:1 you to show what I mean. tongue.gif Withought having to scout, I can just send a probe somewhere near your base for my pylon and gate. This map will be rushes non-stop as well. However, this map is MUCH better than your others, so don't give up.

It will be hard to change that without ripping your whole map apart, though. T_T

Its a bit better, you're not going to get the map much betetr than that without changing the map complete. Good job.

I like the colors! I think mobo's suggestions were a nice improvement. Can tanks/lurkers bomb the main minerals from the other side of walls? I know ppl should be able to stop that, but man I hate when I get caught in that.
