About five years ago, before I bought starcraft, I downloaded the demo to try it out. I found that it had a four level campaign and a multiplayer mode in which there was one map and one playable race. I bought starcraft and played for three years. After moving I lost my discs and before getting a new one I went and played the demo again. I found that it was a changed world. They now had the zerg race playable and many mods for the demo that changed the game for zerg and terran amazingly. I was amazed at how this was spread and done. I was told to get the patch for the mods at www.up4.cjb.net I did and found that it was a smart simple way to do have mods in the game.

It was basically a patch for zerg to be playable as it was in the campaign by the computer and opened up the other game modes. Otherwise it just loaded the mods into the game. How it was made to work was there was a name it button. You pressed the hotkey and it displayed the mod you had to be sure everybody had it. Otherwise you got booted. I'm not saying it would be better than a mod built into the map and a program that loaded that mod but, for now it would work great on map night until a program/method like that is created. I included the file for download here so that it could be modified to fit the full version of starcraft. Also, so that you don't have to do the annoying survey that the site has now.

I hope this will help the starcraft world in it's entirety and help anybody that wanted to make advancements in this area. I would also like to state that I would hope this happens as it is the mods that are on it for the demo are quite fun. They have things done like, flames on a marine.

On a side note mods for sc could be made on arsenal 3, which can be found at the souvenier modding site.

Hmm, maybe I'm tired but I don't get what you're saying exactly. I know you can play mods on bnet anyway if you can be sure everyone else has the same mod, but obviously people arn't going to do that enough to be sure there'll always be someone to play it with.

Even having an automodder program would still get a small audience, as only a small % of people on bnet visit this (or any) SC sites to be able know about it, and even less play UMS, which is where it would be used mainly. Plus people might just get scared off by the new concept, and refuse to download it.
