Ok, you can protect maps, but is there a way to protect the name of the map?
Obviously not in the description, but when you look at it in windows..
I ran across someone playing one of my maps online, so i decided to join, then i started downloading.. I thought "why am I downloading my own map"?
Come to find out, after looking at it in the maps folder, someone changed the name of it, even though it was the same map..
I know this happens quite too often.. I was wondering if there's a way to protect the name.. like maybe check the box under properties "read-only" or something..

I think if there is a way to keep this information intact, it would greatly reduce the number of people downloading the same map, over, and over, and over, etc.. It seems to me that people feel the urge to always change this, and it is very annoying to re-download the same map 13 times, because someone decided to rename it "awesome map", or whatever!!

Any thought's, or ideas? Is it possible?

You cannot protect the file name of your map if that's what you mean.

It is an aspect of Windows and therefore you would need to protect it in Windows, instead of modifying the .chk file so that no Editor would be able to open it, in Windows you would need to make changes making it so that Windows won't be able to rename it, I think that if you do that chances are that it's going to be corrupted nad I've never seen a file which I can't rename before.

If I recall correctly, It didnt let me open Uberena because I couldnt find it in the "Open" box for X-tra, aim, or something else that wasnt starcraft. It had the U with the dots...

So therefore It'd be at least HARDER to open if you put some outlandish character in the front.

Kow, that's just you. 99% of everyone else is using windows with full ASCII support.
