Staredit Network -> Miscellaneous -> Got Injured Running
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BeeR_KeG on 2005-04-09 at 11:20:11
I was running the 4x100 and we were first place until the second runner of ours also got injured and we fell back to sixth, the third dude didn't advance much and when i recieved the baton i went racing faster than posible just to get that last medal and it hit me. My upper part of the hamstring and half my glutteus sprang up and then started shaking a whole lot and my leg wouldn't move at all.
I finished the race with one leg and didn't get the medal, the other team was 2 steps from me and if i hadn't gotten injured we could've gotten it
becasue of that i didn't run the 400meters nor the 4x400

thx, yeah i was favorite to win the 400meters and when i saw it's medal presentation the guy who got 1st was yelling he was best and all that and no one could beat him. I walked up to the podium supported by Jennifer and told him in front of everyone that he got lucky that i was injured. Everyone even the crowd stopped cheering.
That guy's coach asked me what time was i supposed to do, I said my passport to morroco, 49 seconds. The coach then said damn, that would've made my guy run as hell but he would still be 3 seconds behind you. If only you would've ran it would've been a hell of a race for all other runners.

It's pretty harsh really, I can barely walk and I always had to be supported by one of my friends be it male, female, young, old, wether I knew them or not. I can barely walk now and even if I bend and twist my leg now so it won't hurt it'll still hurt. I can't extend it right now, not even to a 75 degree angle. Can't really sit right now because my injury takes the uppermost portion of my hamstring and half my left glutteus.

I still had a good time at the competition bear of my injury and that I always had to be supported by someone. I was in a lot of pictures with a bunch of people.

What I liked the most and in which I even cried was that the girls from the team, which are also on my Pro Team, which compete with me on National Competitions and I was goign to go with them to the World Championchips, carried me up and ran 400 meters just so that I could "run" it.

You sound like a comic book hero who's getting injuried, and the bad guy's getting the medal, and everyone else is behind you :/

Oh well. Too bad. The injury is THAT bad to not be able to compete in X days/weeks?

ahhh suck it up. In one game I dislocated my right shoulder, and twisted my right ankle, but I finished the game to win it (lacrosse) in which we are always on our feet. and I know how it feels, your hamstring and all, had that happen to me, just not as serious as yours Im preddicting becuase I rarely get hurt becuase i stretch ALOT before each event Im in.

I feel for ya man.

Last year I got kicked off the sprint team because I hurt my leg. I was second/third best too. In the race/practice thing were I hurt it I still came in second but I could barely run at all the next day, so yeah, that's gotta suck. I know how it feels.

Hope ya get better soon.

And yes, 4X100m is a relay. You have a team of four run 100 meters each (About a fourth of a standard track).

I'm sorry to hear that, Beer. Are you expected to be out of action for a long time?
I also got injured this year.

I unwisely played 'OTOB' an hour before the school cross-country and over-stretched my hamstring trying to keep a difficult ball in play. Even more unwisely, I decided to run the race and managed to finish 9th in the school, which isn't bad, but I probably shouldn't have run the damned thing as now my right leg hurts like fury every time I play what you guys call soccer.

Thanks all.

I won't be running until August becasue of the severity of the injury. Coach told me I'd be fine my Mid-May but that gives me only 2 weeks to train for the Nationals and only 2~3 days to run in the last qualifier for the Nationals. After being about a month out of action, I don't think I'd be back in shape. Coach said not to run during the summer because he wants to make sure that I'm 100% heal and take absolutely no chances that the slightest muscle fiber still hasn't healed.

It got pretty bad yesterday, it's all black and red because the fiber seemed to have cut off on some places and it's pretty swollen. I'm taking a big dose of Advil to ease the swolleness and I'll be going to Athletic Medical Doctor thing to get some exams and a custom made therapy plan.

What are your times?

I did 52.52seconds this year in 400 meters and I was injured, I could've done 49seconds.
300 meters - 36.43 seconds
200 meters - 22.82 seconds(last year this year I was going for 22.2)
100 meters - 11.23 seconds(that was alone and wind on my face, I was going for 10.9)
