You need to play under the UMS setting. Melee is solely made for "old school" fightning, without triggers, locations or any other modification to the original settings.

You should be able to change the players colours and make it playable in melee. And melee does have triggers, the set resources to 50 minerals and defeat when they command 0 buildings tongue.gif

If you mean start location player colors ... the normal SC ones then listen to Chris.

If you're talking about other player colors like the customized 9 and above ones then you need to make sure you don't open and save it in an editor like X-tra or StarEdit before you play the game. It will reset the colors.

Use SCMDraft or starforge, you have a selection of colors. But you need random start locations on so you wont be the same color or in the same spot every time tou play.

Set a color for all 8 players, then you wont ever get normal color (unless thats what you set)

Make sure it's not an .scm file. There is no color section in the .chk files of SCMs, meaning any and all attempts to change the colors will be lost.

Nope, the default triggers are there only for if the melee map is played under UMS.
Try playing it under free for all, with all the triggers deleted, it will still work.
