If people do stupid things you might want to realize WHY they might do it.
Forum Nub: Hmmm... let's see rules, rules, hmm... I can't find any, thats must mean... I CAN DO WHATEVER DA HECK I WANT! *creates thread: FR33 H4X 4ND PR0N1!11!!one!1
Moderator: *increases warn level* *writes: not tolerated at all... according to... uh... me*
Forum Nub: Carp!, I better not do this again! Too bad I didn't KNOW the punishments and rules in the FIRST PLACE.
OR you can have some kind of Rules Thread where you might want to CLARIFY things that shouldn't be done. I am not saying this because I am mad. I am saying this because of all GREAT forums (Blizzforums, etc.), the ratio of people who get warned and banned is significantly smaller than this forum. The reason being, they CLEARLY state their rules and consequences. At first I thought this would be a friends thing with an honor system, but seeing as Yoshi has pushed it to a further level and the ever increasing new memebers, I would like to see a thread that addresses these problems. You might want to give new people a chance from screwing up, because everyone makes mistakes and I really don't think that rather than penalizing a persons reputation with a warning for doing something they didn't know the punishments from is just unfair. I mean this might be the first time in forums for many people (it is possible). So make the rules page easy find and make the rules and punishments as clear as possible.
Example: blaq's for moderator thread. How was he supposed to know that he can't do that? I mean do you think he intentionally did that to raise his warn level? I know he is a nice guy because I have played with him on SC, and he wouldn't try and sabotage the forums by making a thread like that. Another case of punishment by unknowingness.
Edit: I know there is a BB contract thing, but can anyone honestly tell me if they actually read or remember that? And still that does not even clarify some of the "rules" in this forum. Even Deathknight posted a thread of the leak of World of Warcraft Alpha, but he didn't know, so is it really fair to penalize him for doing something he didn't know was wrong?
I think the general rule of "Don't do anything stupid or bad" is really enough, though people's definition of "stupid" and "bad" tends to vary. Blaq is a good example, since I do talk to him online, and from what I read from his messages, his values are different than ours. So yes, I do think that a more efinite list of "bad" and "stupid" things should be posted, or at least a less vague definition. However, most people should be smart enough not to post inappropriate materials onto the forum.
Alright. First offical rule change of Staredit Network:
IF YOU KNOW ITS BAD OR STUPID, DONT DO IT
that sounds reasonable enough to me. Its still only one rule.
And if you don't know?
(Not saying this to be a smartass, saying this for the forum nubs)
I'll see what I can do about that.
And one last thing, your announcment says if warn level is at 10 all those bad things happen, but I'm at 20

You can get warned 10 times, thats what I meant.
OMG that post pumped me so much! I mean, I'm totally with SB and Yoshi here! Personally, I seriously don't want to see any dumpasses here, and if they create threads as "FR33 H4X 4ND PR0N1!11!!one!1", I SERIOUSLY think he will be appreciated here, thus, warn level up.
Someone making a thread about "make me a moderator cuz I'm cool!!" is literally asking to get his warn level up.
Revelade saying "moo", as a reply; is what I qualify as "pure spam". I already told you, give me a good reason, and I'll level your level down; it can be done, you know. Not like you would be doomed for eternity for this...
Besides, rules are stupid, and we ALL know it. Personally (again), I don't read the ####ing rules or FAQ section, cuz it's long and boring, and I already know what's wrong or not. It's common sense...

Like I said, I'm not posting this for my sake, I'm posting for future avoidance. I only said moo because he posted something that didnt even help my thread.
Is this controversy over now that there is the "Rules" link at the top of the screen?
It is over, but I'm moving this topic to trash incase anyone else wants to defy me... I mean has any more wonderful questions about the rules.

^ I can do that because its in Garbage now.

*Moves back to feedback forum*
UH OH! THATS SPAM! WARN LEVEL +30%!!!!
