Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Stop Units from Attacking at start
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CreativeOne on 2005-04-12 at 22:24:22
I want to stop the computer from attacking its first tier of units when ready. I actually want to put a wait time on the 3 CPU races and have a countdown for the human players. When say 15 minutes are up. I want all 3 races to attack at once.

Not just the first tier. Im talking hyralisk,Vultures, and those Psi Storm guys. At least a 100+ units wihout actually a spawn trigger. Im not really a noob I know my way around, But I am now learning advanced.

Im at work, So I cannot attach a map. but if need be. I can when I get home.

Thank you guys.

Corey

I don't really know how your map works but you can either
1) Put location over areas and when the computer brings units there it moves them back.
2) Make the computer allied to you at the begining so they won't attack.

Conditions:
Always

Actions:
Wait 90,000 (15 Minutes)*
Issue Order to ALL Units* To attack to Location Attack 1*

That will cause the units to attack to the specified loaction.

To keep the humans from attacking you would do this:

Conditions:
Players (whoever you want*) Bring at least 1 any unit to Location Attack*

Actions:
Issue Order to ALL Units owned by (whoever you want) to move back to Location Move Back.
PreserveTrigger.

*=Change to whatever you feel like it.

If you need anymore help or if this was not what you wanted just post again and I know Chu or someone will help you in a Jiffy. tongue.gif

Just use the trigger to allie with condition "always"
and if you want a countdown timer, set that up with condition always and have a trigger that makes them all enemies again at 0 seconds left. (without that you would just use elapsed time=xxx as condition)

First we have to distinguish something, do you want the comps to attack eachothers bases? or just a certain location? If you want them to attack eachothers bases, than you would create locations in other bases and tell them to attack thier, be sure to use run ai script.

it sounds like he's trying to make a "melee" ums map with no rush xxx

hmm, I reccomend just playing melee.
Are you doing that for practice? If so thats not a great idea.

Really all I want is to stop the computers in the lower base from attacking until I say. Everytime I try a "order" trigger they will still send thier first tier of units.

I want to wait at least 20 minutes and let the computer send everything at us. I want to computer to at least build up alot of buildings and units first then BAM send attacking everything they have. First, Second and Third Tier if available. The computers are on the bottom. The humans are defending thier base up top. But they keep attacking their crappy first tier in 3-5 minutes!

Its a pretty simple map, The CPUs are on insane and its a defense map.

I have attached the map.

Thank you again

You should just make a big location in the middle (making sure to block air units also). Then another location below it in their base. For the first 20 minutes, whenever they go in that location they are moved back to the bottom location in their base. Something like this:

I got my ass handed to them! Thanks alot chuiu.

While I am here. Is there anyways to play a wav. (Music Clip) and stop the SC backround music? The mixing is terrible!

Thanks Again chuiu and everyone else who has helped me.

Most people usually turn off their music anyway (control M). But you cannot stop SC's music using a map.

Just tell them in the briefing or in the game to turn off their starcraft music and most people do it.
