Holy shit.

I finally got to my senses and decided that I really needed to finish at least SOMETHING to give to the community. This map has been sitting on my hard drive collecting dust for too damn long. Sunday night I told myself I was going to finish Player 1 version of this map if it was the last thing I do.

This map isn't how I wanted it to be exactly, due to the limitations of StarEdit. What was planned for a 3 player multi-functional RPG turned out to be a 1 player RPG with less features. However, there still is a lot to this map despite the limitations.

So, Staredit.net, I present to you the Beta version of the p1 mode. I won't be making any other versions and I most likely won't be fixing this version unless theres a major problem that keeps it from playing through.

http://www.staredit.net/index.php?download=2769

Enjoy.

Edit:

Do not play in Single Player. Speeds get messed up and such.

I dont think I even talked to Aeris.

Anyway, not sure if its an isolated incident or the map, but I found a looping problem in the underground railway scene (right after tifa's bar, after jumping train). When I near the end of that path, to where I assume is the laser-door thing, I get warped back to the beginning of that area.

not a looping problem, your in next part of tunnel, keep going 2 - 3 times and you'll make to end of tunnel.

heh, that looping tunnel gets everyone (cept Moogle) smile.gif

But yeah, just keep going up and eventually it'll allow you to continue on.

I just wish I could've ended the map at the APS boss fight instead of at the Don Corneo scene but StarEdit likes to work against me mellow.gif

Very,Very nice Killer! I love maps created by you. This one is totally awesome, becuase anything that has to do with any Final Fantasy is flippin awesome. I have player your other Final Fantasy VII map that you created, which i loved, and this one is better, yet its only a demo its very cool. Cant wait for when you are done with this. biggrin.gif Where did you get all those cool sounds from? Do you think that you could send them to me? If you do I dont know what I could give you though?

I found a glitch—Jessie is easily blocked.

I *accidentally* got in her way, 13 minutes or so into the game and it halted all of the games processes and triggers-to-be.

I just figured I would bring it to your attention, KiLLeR.

Good. I can finally review this map.

Besides some minor changes in the script (those MPs back at the bombing mission never said anything about taking Cloud in, as for I remember anyways), it's rather accurate. I'm pretty sure you didn't play FFVII while making it, so I'd like to know where'd you get the script source?

In general, it's quite loyal to the original game. The problem was that I walked up to several NPCs, expecting them to say some memorable stuff back from the original game. As for the famous Midgar intro, I didn't really find it too neccessary. Instead, I would've prefered it if you had a train (dunno, several siege tanks lined up which are ordered from point A to point B) when Biggs and Jesse made their appearance as well as the time when Cloud jumps onto the train.

The battle system is good. The FFIII/Xuru RPG has one of the best and fastest paced battle system in the SC UMS world, but the problem with it is that it is too repetitive without any other forms of attacking. You did a good job with the spells and Limit Break system, although I wish you did some more animations on that.

Unfortunate for me, Cloud just froze at Tifa's Bar after Marlene ran to the back of the bar.

Interesting enough, my friend recently wanted me to make an FFVII series on WC3. But back to the subject. Good job on the map. It is a highly satisfying RPG that exceeds most expectations.

8.5/10

I believe it was Mobomojo—don't quote me though, I may be wrong.

My grip on reality isn't very strong and I've had a bit of a short-term-memory lately.

In short, all I know is it glitched—so you can quote me there.

Actually, I was playing FF7 on my PC to get a jist of how things operated as well as looking at a script with the text. Although, I changed a lot of it to make more sense with this starcraft version of it.

I know what you mean. But I had to limit the amount of text because I knew I would hit some limitation. Only the text that was important to the storyline was added.

Yeah, I suppose. But then again both tanks were being used as the Materia and Limit Break systems. There are many ways to go about the Intro, I just felt that way was best.

As much as I would like to, I honestly doubt there will be a 1b. Honestly, I don't think I can accomplish what I want to with the starcraft editor. I intended this map and had it all planned out perfectly, but everytime I had things going, StarEdit would bring me back down. Sure this map might be ok, but if I had been able to do everything that I wanted, this map would've been incredible.

Well, remaking FFVII on SC, no one expects it to exceed the original. Even though there are limitations in StarEdit, you shouldn't let that stop you. Get around it. Find an alternate plan to accomplish your goal. We support your project, so dont let minor obstacles stop you.

I like your way of thinking, but the obstacles encountered with this map were far from minor.

First, we had that really stupid terrain error about the narrow corners and edges. (Which is why if you view the map with black sheep wall half of the map will be plain asphalt)

Then I ran into the max amount of chars (not strings) aloud in the map so I had to cut a bunch of stuff out. I'm surprised I didn't run out of strings which I probably would of if I could extend the map to as far as I wanted to.

Although, I'm not going to rule out a 1b. Summer is coming up and I'll have some free time on my hands so it might be a possibility. But as of right now, I don't see it happening. mellow.gif

The door won't open after the first part. The ghost u talk to 2 times to make him open the door, the ghosts won't move after that and you're stuck now. Any ideas?

You talk to the ghost to open the first door, then to kerrigan for 2nd door. Then get out of her way so you don't mess up the move order and it should work fine. Just talk to her again to open the next door.
