I originally wanted to enter this for the spring melee terrain contest, but I wasn't exactly fluent in terrains, so saved it for another day. Like today! As the description suggests, the sheer lack of the resource piles will drive anyone crazy... especially the AI. Enjoy!

This map sounds fun Fred, but it also sounds like a UMS?

He protected it. Cant get map pic.

Basically, you start in this TINY area, with 3 patches with 3000 minerals each and a vespene geyser. Players are in four corners, all same level low ground. and there are 4 patches of minerals spread about on the left, top, right, and bottom sides. and there are 2 vespene geysers at 6 and 12. Mid has a bunch of minerals.

In otherwords, this map isnt very good.

read entropy's guide to map making, you may learn something.

Just because it hasn't been done doesn't mean it can't work. There are countless maps made the "old fashioned" way, variety is the spice of life.

Obviously a game with this map won't last very long due to the lack of resources.

maybe there is a reason it isn't done?

do you really think that everyone arbitrarily chose a type of map and stuck to it?

I'm talking about the lack of resources, it will alter the way SC is usually played, but that does not mean that the map sucks.

Oh well, it's my first melee anyway, I'll let it take the criticism you guys sling at me. tongue.gif

1.I disagree, it sucks.

2.Yes you should.

^the above things i said somewhat jokingly.

But seriously, you should try and stick to the main stream ways if you want to learn how to make a good melee map. And trust me, looking at some pro maps really help you. Also, you should play melee if you want to be good at melee map making.
