When you see the title you'll probably say 'yes' right away, but then I think you didn't understand my completely (coz I wans't clear enough happy.gif). What I mean is something like this:

You can buy weapons, spells, abilities, etc. With buying an weapon I don't mean you change from an marine to an gholiath, but that you stay an marine and that your damage is saved virtually. When you encounter player2 you target him and you do damage and he targets you and he does damage to you, then you cast 'fire blast' but he resists it partly and he heals himself from 116 to 186 health, etc. etc. etc.

So this, and more, things are possible:
- Health is saved virtually
- Weapons, spells, abilities, etc. are stored virtually and can be used at the person you want at the time you want it
- Armor, magic shields, health upgrades, etc. are possible
- etc.

Simply said: An (close to) perfect battle system which combines good and fast gameplay together with the possiblity to have unlimited weapons, spells, armors, potions, etc.

Now my question is: IS THIS ALREADY MADE ??!
Because, I can I'm rather close to have done this. Well, to be honest, I did it biggrin.gif.
But I'm not sure if I said be happy as hell to be the inventor of extreemly good battle system... or that I'm just one of the many guys who found an new way to do something that has being done over a hundred times.

(Maybe I'll post an example map of what I mean, but maybe I'll wait until I have completed my Battle Arena map smile.gif)

And let me add some more things:
- The person who fired the last shot also get's the credit for killing that player
- The weapon he used is to kill him is also stored, and
- Every one's kills, deaths, ammount of shots and most used weapon are also stored so you can get an nice overvieuw at the end of the game (or sooner if you want)

Now my question is again: Is this totaly new or not ??

(btw: I don't know for sure if this topic belongs here or somewhere else, please move it if you think that's needed)

Addition: Did I mention this alows all kind of rather fun spells. And then I don't mean things like 'ultra atomic big bang blast' (which are of course also possible) but more stuff like:
- Disarming opponents,
- let them shoot themselfs,
- reduce their shooting range and
- make their weapon go crazy (shoots at everything, which includes ground happy.gif)

Well.... Your map IS NEW, but the concept is taken by Trigger Happy D. I think that it would be great to have an arena with that virtual damage. Its SOMETHING NEW!

There are rpg's that have alot of those elements in them. Also The Gassers ( a game map on this site) uses minerals to represent HP and various other maps have their own types of virtual HP. I dunno if anyone has made an Arena map that complex yet though so wink.gif .

It all depends on the methods. You tell us WHAT the map is going to do, but not HOW the players will control it.

Well I won't tell the triggers right here right now of course, but when I get a little further with all the triggering I'll make an special thread for it.

I almost have whole the basics done, only spellcasting and armors haven't been included yet. When I have all the basics completed, working and 23423 times tested I have to start to include player 4-7, and add more weapons, spells, play modes, etc.

I shall tell a little about the gameplay. To target another player you got to attack his 'target' (observer above him) very simple, then you'll start shooting and you can cast spells, change weapon, run away, target someone else, etc.
When you get outside of your weapon range you can't do anymore damage of course. When you haven't attacked an target for a while (about 4-5 sec) you don't have anyone targeted anymore, this is to prevent players to target someone and then start to run circels and such.

Aw, maybe I already told to much, I'll shut up now. You guys have to wait until I create an new thread for my map, dunno for sure when that will be but that shouldn't be to long.

I shall finsish it. It isn't dramaticly much work. Now I have almost whole the basic engine done, so then I only need to copy it all for player 3-6. That's just brainless copying, it will take some time but can be done within a day. (I hope happy.gif)

Ow, and everyone check the production threadfor much more details !!

Crossfires, nice game, but that is not what I mean, to be honest it doesn't like anything like it. In Battle Arena (or whatever I'm goning to call it) you can walk everywhere, depending on the chosen game mode (free for all, 3v3, capture the flag, etc.) you fight your enemy's. You target them and then you start doing damage (depending on your weapon how much and fast) you can cast spells and use potions.
It is like those warcraft 3 battle arena's (hero arena, angel arena, etc.) where you can also buy weapons and potions and can learn spells. However, in Battle Arena you can choose from more weapons, spells and potions smile.gif.

i see....well i dont think its been done before but people have taken the idea of fighting each other with a single unit you could upgrade...the idea wasnt as detailed as you described though so GL

And we call the system, the "unlimited" battle system. That's what I call it. I might make a duel map based on this, if that's ok with you?

What do exactly mean with an duel map? Or do you just mean that you'll put this system in a map?
Well anyways, currently I'm working quite hard on my map which uses this system. I don't mind if you want to use the system but only when you give full credit for the system to me. Also I whould like to finish my own map and release it on b.net before yours.
When you're going to use this system I hope for you it will work, I didn't tell everything of it here so maybe you'll run into some trouble or something. Well anyway, good luck with it. And check my thread about my map in the map production forum.
