Half Life 2 is not that scary or that exciting. I find it boring... I'd rather play resident evil but i can't.

It's not meant to be scary, well... compared with all these hoardes of other freakier games. Try Doom 3 or Silent Hill 4. hehe
Splinter Cell is awesome too, not that scary, but its always fun when you do an inverted neckbreak.
