Set in urban environments is the mod, or modification for Half-Life, Hostile-Intent. This game features terrorists vs. NATO on a wide variety of locations such as oil tankers, to public houses. You have a simple selection of weapons, and tools and must complete objectives or defeat the enemy to win.

There is no HUD. This means there are no indications of your health, ammo, and most, important of all, no crosshairs. This helps focus on the current situation, than worrying about things. How do you aim, you may wonder. This is accomplished by real-life procedures, which means you use ironsights to aim at your foe. What are ironsights? Boy are you a fast one. Well, these are real-life devices placed on the tip of the gun head and back for your eyes to match up to the enemy.

Health gauges are not needed. The reason is two-fold, first you don't see them in real life. And the most important reason is that you will be dead by the time you notice you are under fire, which is also realistic. Realism in Counter-Strike means you can take 10 buttons from a glock and still live, while in this game, only a few bullets will do you in, which also applies to real life.

Friendly Fire is also on, which means you have to make your shots carefully. Nothing is more annoying than being killed... by your teammate. In real-life situations, the objective is not to shoot everything in sight, but to get your shots on the right person.

Personally, I'm tired of the growing trend of FPS's that require crosshairs, gauges and what not. Goldeneye, even if it did have health and a crosshair, the main game was played WITHOUT a crosshair and health is only shown when being attacked. This proves that games without these features CAN be successful.

The game is suited for hard core players, as it can be difficult for beginners to learn it. The game proves that real-life situations are tense and not just the point-click, shoot at everything that CS has brainwashed into online players. So, check this out, and see for yourself, what a truly realistic FPS is.

Niiiiiiiiiice.
If I had Half-Life I'd probably get that. And it is strange that even the best games brag that they are so real but like you said, you can take like a million bullets and live. Something like that is like Delta Force how even one shot will kill you, two if you have a kevlar vest. And do you know if the mod will be released for Half-Life: Source? IF you don't know what that is it's normal Half-Life with the Half-Life 2 engine.

You can turn off your crosschair, hud and mostly anything in doom3.
