Staredit Network -> StarCraft Editing Related -> Staredit FAQ

I found this on the battle.net site:
http://www.battle.net/scc/faq/staredit.shtml

It answers some of the common questions about the Starcraft campaign editor, and gives particularly useful information on AI scripts.

If you haven't seen it yet, check it out! It's valuable information.

Shouldn't this be placed under "Staredit Related & Freelancers"? Just wondering...

This isn't very useful, since everything that is there is also in the Staredit.exe help files.
Really, if people weren't that lazy and went right away to sites asking quastions and just read the help files Blizzard made for you (I did read them and they're very good) it'd save many time for many people.
But since everybody are so lazy and don't even try to look for help in the same program they use for that program, why would you expect them to take some time and read what's in Blizzard's site?

Face it, the only ones who read FAQs are thoes who already know it all, those who don't are always too lazy, so FAQs are pointless.

But yes, this thread is in the wrong sub-forum.

I disagree - I put this in the map making assistance forum because I thought it would be most useful for those people who ask questions in that forum. It is not so strictly Staredit related, because a lot of the information applies to mapping in general

AqoTrooper: Just because it is redundant, it doesn't mean that it's useless.
Some of the information here (about the AI scripts in particular) elaborates more than the Staredit help files do.

I do agree that this information is useful largely for low-moderate skill level mappers, but that includes most of the people who ask questions in this forum, so it will be useful for them.

I know, but that's not why it's useless.

Have you even seen a newcomer uses the search feature before he posts a thread?
Have you ever saw a newcomer that tried to make a map before asking how to make it?

The point is, those who need the FAQ never read them, so FAQs like that one, are useless.
Unless you create one FAQ that answers very singal quastion and replace the 'Map Assisstance' forum with a link to that FAQs will stay pointless.

You mean ... by searching for the information instead of spamming a forum with requests? tongue.gif

I found the bit about AI scripts interesting, that's all I looked at though.
