What's the best way to place ash rocky doodad sprite thingies w/out crashing?

Do unit sprites count against the unit and/or sprite limits in starcraft?

Can unit sprites be affected by triggers?

Sprites don't crash... No sprites crash from the doodad section. Or do i misunderstand the question. That or u n00b!

u fail it!!1 nub!

Um yeah, you misunderstood. An example would be Dabbu's map with the rock slide. I know a few ways to place rocky sprites, but don't want to mess with trial and error to find which cause a crash or not if someone's already done it. Simple as that.

cloak a unit (Queen works; use the disable/enable/enableorder) then remove the unit, and get vision there. Can't remember if the sprite is removed. but it didn't crash for me!

Hmm, any way to do it with the possibility of it being viewed by the players (while being placed)?

As far as I know.. no.

A good way is if its a earthquake, center view somewhere else right before you create them, and centerview between 2 locations to get a shaking effect. Then after you create the sprites center back.

I thought dabbu had said you can create the rock sprite by disableing a nexus without crashing SC.

Not if you have vision of it. If you have vision of a Nexus while it's being disabled, then say hello to your desktop. (I just tested it).

EDIT: About the Unit-Sprites, it seems that they can be affected by triggers. I placed some Ultralisk unit-sprites, and made a trigger ordering all Ultralisks to move to a location. The unit-sprites moved.

Protoss buildings that crash: all special buildings (i think), nexus, and pylon.

Marines are normally cloaked and nothing happens...

A long while ago I turned a bunch of drones into rock sprites by disabling them. You could look at them but seconds later you would crash, i don't know if it still does that... but i'll find out! biggrin.gif

If your disabling below the vision, the sprite pops up about 4-7 tiles north.

i forgot what it was, but i disabled a certain unit and it turned into the ash rock thing and didnt crash my starcraft. I was trying to create some anti-map hack on this map I was fooling around with and everytime i would go in game that damn rock would be there and i could walk all around it and such...

I found that alot of different units will make rocks, but you have to look away when it happens or you will crash. The rocks appear about 4 tiles up from where the unit was, and it's ok if they are off the edge of the map.
