Personally I like 1600*800 the most, but the most popular one is 1024 * 768, many people with slow proccessors use 800 * 600, and I once tried playing UT04 on 320 * 240 and it still looked awesome!

So what is, in your opinion, the best resolution?
Remember that 640 * 480 might look a little uglier than 1280 * 1024, but on the other hand it runs 4x faster.

Dunno exactly, but I like it big. tongue.gif

I thought 320x240 didn't even exist anymore...

1280 * 1024... my moniter gets a little flickery at anything higher, otherwise it would be 1600.
I can't stand anything below 1024 * 800 anymore. 1024 is only slightly annoying now.

Edit: I guess it doesn't flicker anymore... but god damn, this has to be bad on the eyes! lol. And mmmm... I can't get the sides perfectly straight after playing with moniter settings for like 30 minutes.

In my opinion...
Bigger is better as long as it runs smoothly, and without any annoying flickering or other problems.
Mine will only go upto 1028... cry.gif

when I have time to fool around, I'll probably go with a custom resolution between 1280 and 1600... like 1400 * 1104. I guess both values have to be divisible by 8, or so it seems by trial and error.

1280 * 1024 is my favorite.... but ONLY because my monitor can't get any bigger <.<

I have to have on 800x600, anything higher and I can't see the cursor.

Woah what if I got like a really big monitor; then I could have some Über resoluion!

1280 x 1024, I would move it a notch up but my monitor isn't large enough to support it.

Most people still use 1024x768. I despise that and anything lower (and I've been slowly upgrading from 320x240 back in 1990 up to what I have now).

1152 * 864

Anything bigger than that and everythign starts getting too small. It'll still be readable but hard on the eyes.

Not too big and my windows don't cascade as often as 1024 * 768.

Hm. I'm good at recognizing small things, but not at noticing details.
It's weird.
So although my vision is what I think is slightly worse then average, I can read particularily well.

Well now I got a question, how can you make custom resolution?
I've seen some of you do that... but my computer only allowes me to select from some options (the ones I posted + some more).

This computer only goes up to 1280x1024, but when I'm at work I write code in 8pt font on 1600x1200 =)

1024 * 768
Its just what i like.... But its funny when you use the biggest number to get more pictures on the SEN banner. But i just use 1024x768

Display Properties > Advanced > Geforce Card Brand > Screen Resolutions & Refresh Rates
Not sure if non-geforce cards have them, I'm sure they do.

1600x1200 cuz it shows everything, once you see a empty spot showing the desktop, have a window move to there, and then you can do everything at once.

the bad thing about making ur custom desktops, is that some wallpapers will get streched, and not look as good. i understand that you cound do that center thing, but then you got desktop on the side, and it looks horrible if u ask me.
