Best way to avoid spyware is to NOT use IE and to NOT visit suspicious or malicious sites.

You forgot Microsoft AntiSpyware which is better because it works with windows to
1) Fix your IE.
2) Fix spyware without restarting then scanning before starting up your computer.

use what legacy posted. i read an article on it somewhere and what it basically is is the two best spyware companies that had been out there. microsoft bought them out and merged them together. it removed about 70-75% of the spyware while the others are 50-60%. it fixed my old computer and you can do daily nighttime checkups and have full protection.

Ad aware sucks. I used MS antispyware and found way more stuff than ad aware.

I recommend MS AntiSpyware and SpyBot Search and Destroy.

MS AntiSpyware takes care of everything (almost).
SpyBot takes care of everything else (because the program really doesn't care about anything other than finding spyware and removing it so it will find any and all spyware even if it is damaging to your computer to remove it).

I Dont Trust Adware. i got a thing called SpyBot Search and Destroy

And why in hell's sake shouldn't we trust Ad-aware? As far as I see, no reasons are being given... At all.

Why do you trust SpyBot when you don't trust Ad-aware?

In the License it clearly states:
QUOTE
II.c. Liability
Under no circumstances can you make me liable for any damages you might do to your system using Spybot-S&D.
But that's normal... what about this:
QUOTE
II.b. Warranty
I tried my very best to make the code of Spybot-S&D as stable as possible, andI give you the warranty that I placed no code to cause intentional harm to your system.
However, removing the threats targeted by Spybot-S&D sometimes involves cutting deep into the system sometimes, and I cannot guarantee that your system will be running the same as before. For example, spyware hosts may stop working. I can also give you no warranty that Spybot-S&D will remove every spy on your system, or that it will give you no false positives. For your own verification the location of the problem is shown with every entry, and if you have any questions remaining you can visit the support forum for more information.

I'm pretty sure they do have this replace by so and so date that tells you when you should go and re-install another version from the MS website to make sure you have the latest version.
