I have been working on a new map to test out a new system I have been working on yet, I ran into a problem, In the middle of this "Test map" there is a small army of DT's on each side, They have the Exact same placement, and the Exact same amount of DT's, Yet one side wins everytime, and the problem is, the outcome is not even close, one team slaughters the other team by far, (and they all have allied vision with a preserved trigger so they both see eachother) they have all the exact same triggers yet the one side wins with around 100 men left (both sides have 200 DT's)...Any idea why this happens and how to fix it?

If know one knows ill make a map to copy the problem and show it to you guys.

The path finding AI Blizzard wrote is very outdated. It doesn't work very well with mass battles of non-micro'ed units like that especially when they are coming from different portions of the map.

I think the more obstructions and obstacles you have the more you will notice it evening out a little. Though it's possible editing the terrain may even make it worse. You just have to test.

Give one side less, or kill them with triggers but make it look more normal.

I know, there are plenty of ways to make it even, thats not the point, the point is when the units are equal why isn't the battle outcome closer (The same problem could also occur in madness games.)

Watch closer. I don't know how you have your units setup but I know several things are going to happen:

1. Units will get spread out or grouped up.

2. Units will end up behind others and NOT walk in a strait line all the way to their destination, with the exception of the units in the center with a direct path to the destination.

3. One of the players units will begin to flank the others.

4. Continuing to flank, the one player quickly gains the upper hand because he has greater attack area against the other player. This matters a lot especially in hand to hand combat where units can't be placed behind each other and attack the same units as the units in front of them. Like ranged units can.

All of this is due to the pathfinding AI.

You can't be accurate all the time, like that.

Make 2 of your units attack each other. You'll get different outcomes. (unless you're doing really slow units like siege tanks or devourers)

Try what I suggested:
decide what side always comes out with less, then make that side kill a few random ones (just put a few locations that kills them randomly).
