I've been doing maps for years now, have created almost 100 maps for broodwar yet, but I realize I did not have many people to help me find out about balancing or what to consider, so most of my maps are imbalanced (mostly pro-terran, that happens often if u try to do too much), and as i am a Terran player my self, I did not care^^. Well I want to try to change my strategy with making maps, instead of making two per day and never really testing them I probably should try to concentrate on a few and try to make them really good. So I'll start with presenting one of my newer creations, tell me what I could improve or what I forgot balancing-wise.

Well this one is pretty much standard 4-player map, gasnatural expo with a cliff, very open and big middle part, all other expos are neutral.

I will try to be more active on this board in the next weeks, as maps are what i like most in BW, and most maps I see here really kick ass. Do you play them sometimes, too?

I'll post my complaints.

This map is hell for terran. They will have a hard time holding their same-level wall, and then they have a huge open middle to worry about.

It's good to make conservative maps like this one, (edit:), because it's an easy way to make decent maps.

This map has too much "vertical" terrain, make the mains look more natural so it sort of matches the rest.

It is not natural, it's a structure men build;)

Honestly, it will be pretty much impossible to avoid having such vertical lines witout messing up the gameplay, and substance goes over style with me;)

Well, maybe natural wasnt the right word, but personally, it looks a bit tacky; most of the map is pretty much in diagonals whereas just those few parts are straight lines. But yea i dont think it matters that much

OK, if i put a piece of paper over the middle of the map, its good, then i see the mid. Too many bridges and open space, for what? No expansions to fight for or anything.

In the dead center, you should add an 8 min expansion, and 2 gases. And if your going to, make them surround the CC area.
