So, after the last two disappointments that were Episodes I and II, do you think Lucas can snap off a surprise victory with the third (and probably last) episode in the Star Wars saga?

We've seen the trailers and we've read the books. We've seen commercials for the new game and all the standard memorabilia. We even have hope that George can pull one out of his... magic hat... (thought I'd say ass didn't you?) to the happiness and glory of millions of global fans. This is Star Wars. It's bigger than StarCraft. Hell, it's bigger than Lord of the Rings! This is Serious Discussion material. It's not about some silly war, or a jackass president. This is the stuff philosophy is made of.

If someone locks this, there will be Hell to pay.

All discussion is to be oriented here. This is what I've been living towards for so many years.

It's sad to see it come to an end. I was reading an article in the newspaper about the series. Sure most people think I and II were a disappointing, but as the article said, it kind of had to be, because it had to chronicle Anakin's past as a child and all. I think this one, however, should be good with lots of action and dark moments, afterall it's the first one in the series to get a PG-13 rating right? Even if it doesn't live up to the expectations I just want to know how exactly Anakin became Darth Vader, and the battles and stuff. This weekened I also saw the Star Wars clone wars miniseries and I think it gave a lot of background info. I can't wait to see that General Grievous in the movie.

1st of all, most people might have been disappointed with episode 1 and 2, however i was not. 1 was sadly better then 2 in an odd way... 1 had the full side of mystery and wonder on it's side, especially since in the other movies, you had never heard of Qui-Gon Jin. And seeing a young Kenobi was very intresting. You might think of it as so, but episdoe one had very considerable dose of action, drama, rising action, and Climax. I mean when Qui-gon Jin died i was like . I didn't see it coming. The defenite highlight of starwars episode one was defenitely Anakin's background with his mother and Watto(ugh the engineer dude, slave owner) and for us to see his original Mentor qui-gon Jin. And yes, the fight between Kenobi, Qui-gon, and Darth Maul, was absolutely awesome-the best fight scene in a star wars until episdoe 2. That's all for episode 1 recap..

Now Episdoe 2....I didn't like it as much after re-watching it, tho at first glance it is the better movie. After all, Padme is hot, Anakin looks like a fagIT(YEAH I SAID IT!) jAR jAR IS a Senator( ) and you get to see Kenobi with a mostly grown beard. The movie was defenitely far too centered on the love of Anakin and Padme, tho that is what episode 2 was about, it disapointed me they didn't concentrate on more action and Light Saber fights. And the Trailers defenitely made the movie look awesome, and what made it better was they waited like a whole week until they showed the Yoda Trailer. OMGF YODA WAS THE SHIT! He was doing all this jumpin and twirlin and slicing, and force lightning...it was mother ingownage!(correct, that is not a real word)sadly, episdoe 2 didn't entice me enough to watch it more then a third time. However episode 1 i watched up to 5 times(only 2 by choice). However i would rate episode 2 a 7/10 and episode 1 a 8/10 very high rate movies.

Now about episode 3.... The trailers look well... bleh. I'm only intrested in it because i've seen Star Wars Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. I also want to see this General grievos, he is most intresting, defeating 5 Jedi is should prove as a most formiddable opponent for the chosen one. But i'm guessing their trailer for episode 3 isn't all that climactic because everyone knows what's going to happen, good guys lose... Anakin becomes Darth Vader. Not the most intresting way to go, for everyone knows it is the end.... But None the less! I must go see it! I must know why he turned into Darth Vader! Ya know what....The lord of sith is so strong that the Chosen one can't even beat him... isn't that sad? I want to know where the sith lord came from.... Who he is... the one they call Darth Sithius!

I enjoyed all of the Star Wars series even though I still think episodes 4-6 are better than 1-2.

Of course the classic trilogy is better than the first two prequels. Hopefully, George Lucas is gonna close off the prequel trilogy on a good note (emphasis on the word hopefully).

I personally hate starwars, I never found a intrest for it... And why exactly is this in the serious discussion forum?

I think people liked 4-6 becuase of a few reasons.

Soldiers were real, not CG

Actors were better

Space ships were, for the most part, actual models filmed, which looks more real to me then CG

There were actual sets, in 1-2 most of it was green screen

Get the picture?

I think episode 6 was the best one out of them all

episode 2 had awsome jedi vrs droid fight scenes, but hafl the people were fake.

One wasn't a dissapointment at all and the more I think about it, either was Two. I don't see why anyone would think that. They were both great movies.

Well, they were both great in their own ways, I'll give you that much.

Also back in the time when episodes 4-6 came out most of the movies were Not much action at all.
For the first 5 mins (might not have been but thats what it seemed) you would read who was in the movie and the director and all that.
But then starwars comes and you dont have that. You got Darth Vader Storming in action rite in the begining.
It was new to people in the older times, so that made it intresting.

Then now, with how much violence and stuff are in newer movies today (20th century +) Episode 1 & 2 was .
But being a long time Star Wars fan i have to say they were both very good.

Sense you didnt really have much back round info on the characters.


As far as 3 goes, because we already pretty much know what happens in the older ones, nothing in 3 is going to be to much of a suprise. Thats all i have to say.

well we all know anakin turns to the dark side, but I don't know exaclty, in detail, what happens to him and how he looks at the moment he turns and how it effects every one around him. Thats what Im excited for.

Maybe they should of kept it a secret and not show it...

I like the Clone Wars, I think that was the best even thou it was animated lol

Whats new in Episode 3 is General Grievous, the droid/flesh hybrid Droid General
He looks better then in the animated series!

Mace windu, almost kills Palpatine when he finds out hes the Dark lord of the sith Lord Sithious.

Anakin walks in on this and thinks mace windu is trying to assasinate him.

Anakin kills Mace (surprise surpise ) and thats is where palpatine convinces anakin that the republic is traitors and blah blah....

GREVIOUS can use the force!!! my god how cool!! to bad he dies.. bleh...

Grievous is a cyborg. There is no reference in the book that he can use the force to any degree. He just has super cyber-reflexes that allow him to wield a lightsaber.

The movie does not come out in America until this Thursday.

You see him in the clone wars, he topples tons of Jedi, but it is apparent that he's no match for the higher Jedi like Mace Windu.

Yea, just at the very end Mace Windu almost gets the General. He uses the force and easily crushes Grevious as he's leaving, damn I wan't to seem them fight.

I know that Palpatine is that evil Sith Lord, but what I'm confused about, was he the evil Sith Lord since the beginning, and during episode I, which was Darth Sidious? So he was faking it all and pretending to be a good senator, when he's really on the dark side and can use the force and a lightsaber? I heard he is very strong.

In Episodes 4-6 you can see that Palpatine is the Emperor. I think Leia or Obi-Wan said it somewhere through those movies.

I thought in the book they said Grievous could potentially use the force because his brain was incredibly .. connected with it. Sort of like Darth Vadar.

I thought Palpatine was just corrupted by Lord Sidious....or/and mind controlled by him...

Darth Sidious kills Mace Windu, not Anakin Skywalker.

Windu is about to kill Sidious, but Anakin intervenes and says that he must not be killed; he must be captured alive and given a fair trial. When Windu refuses, Anakin cuts off his lightsaber hand. Sidious then fires electrical bolts at Windu (which he was previously blocking with his lightsaber) and knocks him off a ledge to his death.

There are some other cool/slightly melancholy parts of the movie, such as the Clone Troopers betraying the Jedi when they receive the order from Sidious, and shooting them all down mercilessly, but I've said too much already.

Yea I know there is an Emperor Palpatine, but is he also Darh Sidious?
