SEN Mapmaking Team

I'll be blunt, the original mapmaking team wasn't living up to its full potential. I don't think you guys actually heard much about more than one map at the max that we've worked on. With the exception of those who actually put in good work, not much else was happening. I can sit and point fingers, which would be fun, but I'd prefer getting to the problem and fix it.

This team will be the elite mappers of StarEdit Network working together in colleberation to produce the best maps possible. What's going to change? First off, I've wiped the entire roster. Gone is the division into sections, mappers must demonstrate knowledge of most of the fundamental areas of mapping.

Applications
To apply, you must submit TWO maps. These do not need to be completed maps, and can be conceptual so long as they demonstrate advanced knowledge of map making, such as advanced terrain and trigger systems. We don't want to give out full lists of tests for you to fulfill, because this allows us flexibility in who we admit/reject based on the quality of the work provided. Also, please include some information on yourself and WHY you feel you would be a good addition to the team. Combind these allow us to tell what parts of mapping you are skilled in and what place to reccomend you take when working on a project. Applications will also be accepted by PM if you so choose.

One last note: If you aren't going to take this seriously and/or not do your work, don't apply.

[attachmentid=9033]Only player 1 has the new system implemented. Players 2-6 have the old system which was a complete failure. The new system became a failure as well. This does of course show a bit of my level of skill.

I'm LW as most you already know. I was in SMT in v1 when it just began. Although Moogle started the Tank Command project, it eventually fell into my hands because I was doing most of the triggering for it and knew where it was headed.

I would be a good addition to the team because I can adapt to other's triggers and find good systems that can be created to go around with the terrain, around with limited amounts of units and locations. I know how TC engine works and some may get confused by my triggering. I know where TC is headed and I know what I'm doing when I map.

This is the map I'm working on. It's still in it's Alpha stages so it's very unbalanced and it has some bugs like the text.
Not really finished but you get the idea. Also take a note that I haven't implemented random scenarios.

An experimental map I made some months ago. If you don't know how to make it work ask me because not everyone knows how it works on the first try.

I have no extended Terrain on my hands right now, the best Terrain I can show you is that of Special Operatives.

Basicly almost all of my work is on Conceptual Triggers as you can see on my Tutorials and that RPG thread in Concepts Forum.

All of them are unfinished. Arenawar18 is one I am currently working on, but that's not the game name just the filename.

It shows a unique ally system and option control panel where players can select modes and input their settings. Dropship system with unique abilities, I'm working on fixing the score system to fix kills for ghosts and need to just move a few triggers.

Archonball is just a conceptual map

RpgTerrain3 is just terrain and just a lot of it, nothing really fancy though

rpgv14 is just a system I made up.

If I someone get to join I will take my work seriously smile.gif I have a good knowledge of triggers and concepts and will get along well with others when needed. Also I am a quick learner of things I don't know.

Replace a Final Fantasy game with this:

Also leave a lot of open ended side plots and stuff, Final Fantasy games capture the past of things also, like past relations and stuff, so if they all didn't make any sense with the story or anything then it would bring the game down.

SMT doesn't want people to write stories just and then be happy-go-lucky for the rest of their life. Once again, can a story make a map? Does a story open up staredit.exe and make triggers? Terrain? Didn't think so.

Yeah a story can make a map.
But since your going to be grumpy and one sided the entire time I won't bother arguing with you. I'd get more conversation from a wall.

First, some common sense advice. Flaming a very prominant SEN member in a sticked topic = very bad idea. IP is watching this topic. And he might feel sympath for people who agree with him.

What's wrong with people coroperating on making a map? I just hope that no members get kicked out for taking month long + breaks.
I think one of the main points about having multiple people work on a map. Is that they can work in shifts. Then the map gets done faster.
The only problem is this:

Obviously this is a worst case sceniero, but it could happen.
However I am in support of the SMT, I think that the people on SEN won't be this stupid, and that colaberation will yeild better maps.
But when they tired to make trasgressed time, people started quiting over clan differences and such.
However this team look much for Elite. I think you should be in it RexyRex, I think your the only one that can keep everyone from going insane.

Anyway, I keep the requirements for application vague for one main reason: I WANT you to apply. So far there's only been 4 applicants, so I'm hoping to see some more coming in here.

Anyway, I said I was going to submit more maps, so here is my submittance.

This demonstrates my knowedge of triggers. I used a few systems that have been used rarely. I did this map in 2 days. I haven't tested it in multiplayer, but I know that it works in single player fine.

This was what I consider to be my best terrain examples. They were never near completion of anything. But they show that I can accomplish the flow of terrain on large scales.
If you still doubt my terraining skills, simply check the terrain forum, some of my work is bound to be someplace in there.

As for the rest of the catagories that are needed for mapping.

I can come up with some cool events, minor details.
I will probably have a lot of time on my hands, but can only work every other week. (Unless someone comes up with a good editor for the mac)

Can you please stop talking shit about the Mapping Team? Unless whatever source you're getting this from is actually in the SMT, I doubt its very credible (note: Rexy is not). Furthermore, going "WOW, you guys SUCK" and "you're NEVER going to get anywhere" isn't going to motivate anyone to map anything very much or help us out at all. Either apply to the SMT, talk about something constructive, or get the hell out of this thread.

They don't even have any idea what's going on right now. As soon as we decided to add Rantent on the team, I started actively working with LW on Tank Command. Rantent is going to be doing some work on it right now, and you might have seen LW's latest concept thread which directly relates to some triggers in TC's Campaign engine. We spent half and hour to an hour talking about how we were going to do that shit. And now that that's all figured out and planned all that's left is to make it.

It wasn't the ABS system itself. It was a way to combine the ABS system with a randomization system and be able to change it in a way we can easily control how random we want hits to occur.

Well one of the maps im submitting is just modified in a good way. The Zergling blood has lots of cool features, not 100% finished, and the Super credit thing is buggy and unfinished. The A Dragons Tale rpg is working well, except for $ for kills thing (i posted for help)

sly.gif the zergling blood map shows semi-advanced triggering (the attacker)
Also, the hero changes from plantinum 3 (if u played it) were plain, and much more balanced( which shows sense of balance, if that counts)

A Dragon Rpg map is in alpha stages but shows promise.
