Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> Trigbeta Plug-in: good or bad?

After looking at the trigbeta plug-in for scmdraft, I knew it suck. Do you think it sucks?

No. Just because you don't know how to use it to it's full potential doesn't mean it sucks. If you want something easier to use then make your triggers in X-tra or Starforge.

You should have one more option on there. As in, "Do not understand its capabilities".

I for one have no idea on how to use it. It looks easy enough to use, except I am too lazy to make the change. The only part a little challenging in the beginning is learing the syntax of the editor. But, once you get the basic concept they are "probably" easy to work with.

I really like the effectiveness and flexibility of being able to copy and paste, edit and view triggers easily and at my will. =)

I mean, do you actually know how to use trigedit? =/ At least give some facts to back up your opinion. Otherwise it feels like you don't know what you're talking about.

I think it's awesome for copy and paste triggers or mass find and replace triggers.

For creating triggers, trigedit just wouldn't be the thing to use as it would be much slower to type it all in than to use Starfirge's autocomplete feature, or Staredit's click-and-drag. It's not like you can memorize every field of every trigger. I just prefer something that gives me an actual list of what I can use/do with it.

Exactly what DK said. If SCM had a more freindly trigger "Starter" like SF where you can have auot-complete things then it would really own... But, I tested the mass repair/find the trigger. And SCM PWNS in that aspect. But, until it gets an autocomplete (If it ever will) I'll put away SF unless Heimdal Updates it...

It's not that hard to learn or remember. After you've used it for a little bit, you start to remember the more often used functions; any function you can't remember can be easily looked up in the reference text file.

Now, if only there was a button in the 'help' menu to bring up that reference file, it would be perfect.

Towards AutoComplete, how about something similar to many IDE's or IPE's so that when your entering like the name of units, it'll provide a small scroll-able bar where you can jump to the unit you want, and maybe have this for other sectors as well.

I use both starforge's and SCMdarft2's trigger editors.

I left the staredit one a long time ago.

I would use the SCM draft trig edit more if this feature worked:

The trigger editor on GUEDIT is just as good as the SCMdraft 1

There was a trigger editor in SCMDraft 1?

Well either way, the GUEdit export/import was nice because it was textbased ... but 99% of the time it screwed up my strings.

1 Use a html/code editor of you choice (weaverslave for example)
2 Add the scmdraft2 Trigeditplugin syntax to the program, or let the program learn it (some are capable of this)
3 edit triggers like this:
--1 open trigedit
--2 ctrl+a
--3 ctrl+x
--4 open code editor
--5 ctrl+v
--6 have fun editing triggers with auto-complete, syntax highlighting etc
--7 ctrl+x
--8 open trigedit
--9 ctrl+v
4 save triggers
5 have fun

I love it, but trigs don't save into the map for me. I'll just DL the new SCMD so I won't worry 'bout it.

You need to press the compile button. It is the one that is farthest right in the small buttons. It look sort of like a blue checkmark

The SCMD needs to be better. I wish there would be a good editor because SForges needs to be less glitchy , sc edit isnt advanced enough(editor that is x-tra deletes stuff like player color and stuff, and scmd just isnt complete enough. I like scmd cuss it reminds me of wc3 editor. The only problem is that the syntax should be a little bit more like sf in the chooing units locations and what else u need to fix.

i got a question then, since its "good". How would a trigger look like if I want a scourge to go another direction when it touches the zerg unit.

IF there was a syntax help message right in your face like Starforge, it'd be easier to remember what to put where.

The same as what it would look like in normal StarEdit...

It's good. I simply copied the program and updated one of the copies. The new ver of scmdraft2 has triggers, but weaker sprite system, but resizing, and lots of other c00l new features. I'd just use regular for sprites and new one 4 triggers. Just because its not perfect dont say it sucks please mad.gif ranting.gif

*Clicks the invisible 'Don't Know It's Capabilities Yet' button*

That is a good feature in SCm DraFt 2. But Trigedit keeps on messing up my computer.

Wheres the "Fantastic Option"?
Seriously I've been working with trigedit for the past few days learning it quite fast and well. I must say... I love it. DW really did good with it.

I've begun to completley not use starforge at all currently. Anyway I've always wanted something similar to this. Something where I could see all my triggers at once in full text with very few if any errors.

Anyway thx SI and DW, this is something i've always wanted and really helps me orginize everything.

Anyway if I find any bugs ill let you know smile.gif.

There may be a bug with strings and color codes, if you ever notice strings gaining extra characters or anything like that tell SI about it.
