So... one day, about a week or so ago, a female came over and again asked if I had diablo 2 installed. This female is an ex, btw, and didn't show that much interest in games while I was dating her... too bad.

Anyways, upon installing d2 on two computers and playing for a little while with her, I became interested again and played for the next week or so. Moosey and oo.snipe.oo found me playing .

I enjoyed the game again for awhile, until I started doing baal runs and discovered bots were running most of them... and auto picking up the good items. The fact that the ladder started off with a new economy meant nothing because it was so flooded with items anyways from everyone running bots to do mf run for them. Hacks are sickening.

So last night, I started to reformat my system's harddrive... somehow my user folder got corrupted or something. While it was no big deal, I have been telling myself I wanted to install a fresh copy of xp for the longest time now so it gave me an extra reason to. I mean, I took everything off my C: drive and put it on a seperate harddrive months ago for this reinstall...

Back in... March... when I moved, I put all my papers into a box. Shit loads of papers. So when I installed xp, I didn't know exactly where my xp key was so I just used an invalid one. I tried to download SP2 anyways and failed and started seeking a valid key on the web. I didn't install firefox yet because I was mostly doing windows updates and such... so when I went looking for a key I came across this page that totally took over my computer. It somehow disabled task manager (gave a memory error), installed some porn shit on my desktop (which didn't make sense because I knew once my computer restarted, the os was gone)... and some other crap, without my consent. I laughed. Stupid IE users.

So I went looking for my real key (found it quite easily too) and reinstalled again. Now I am in the process of figuring out what antivirus and firewall I should get. I'm thinking Norton Internet Suite 2005 because I kinda like integration between programs (ie: one loader for an av, firewall, spy protection, etc), but I'm open to suggestions. My last config was Systemtic Corporate 9.0 AV (norton) with a McAffe firewall.

Anyways, what's been up? What did I miss? SEN looks ed up. Why is there a scmdraft icon where the global shoutbox is supposed to be? And a starforge icon where the little "gzip enabled" icon should be? WTF?

I'm going to get back to getting programs back on my computer and sooner or later I'll read these 8 messages still sitting in my inbox and then look at the feedback forum for stuff that needs anwsering and responding to suggestions... and then after that, get back on track with senv5... yay.

Welcome to the happy world of D2! Basically, you need to play with your little group of pals and not MF with strangers. You're just sure to lose with pickit hacks, map hacks and bots everywhere. And in case you didn't know, a couple dupes are already running around.

But I guess that's past history since you were probably playing with your friend anyway

yea all the d2 programs gave me virus and i had to format, i learned mmy lessen lol but i got it to work again phew.

Nothing really to fix, I just like reinstalling windows every 6 months or so to clean out residue from programs I uninstalled and etc, unless you meant with SEN...
The starforge and garbage forum icons seem to be switched around as well... yoshah, what's going on? I should get trillian installed.

Sounds like you had Cache problems or whatever with those images . . . but, i'm not going to try to help you with that kinda thing cause you know far more than I do.

Anyways, I use Zone Alarm Security Suite and it has real-time virus protection. (I dunno if Nortan does)
Also, I use AVG Free which is based on just viruses so it catches some nasty ones that Zone Alarm doesn't.

The Nortan thing would be great if it wasn't such a resource hog.

And yeah rexy, I've noticed norton stol3 all my resources... and I'm on a crappy computer to begin with. I won't uninstall it though because then I'll more program residue that will just make me want to reformat again and blah blah...
I like McAffe's firewall over nortons, it gives you the specific ips trying to access your computer. Well, so far norton said I had no intrusion attempts but it did block like... 200 incoming requests, which doesn't entirely make sense. However, I was also running apache when I had mcaffe installed, so it's a different situation.

I think AVG free was rated as the best free virus scanner at 80-something percent dection rate... some Kapskaieaaerwoad as the ultimate best scanner with like 98% detection rate. Whatever.
OH OH OH... remember that news post I made about the massive amounts of emails I got? Well, those were mail worms... so whoever had me in their address book and got infected tried sending it to me. It was norton's latest wild outbreak alert.

Hmmm... I still gotta get an email proggie install and such. I don't feel like using outlook now that microsoft is killing their free pop3 access to hotmail.



HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET RID OF THAT GOOGLE SEARCH BAR ON FIREFOX?! It wasn't there before prior to my reinstall. I've looked everywhere and I couldn't find an option to get rid of it... or the "> Go" button. I want them gone! If I wanted to do a quick search on google, I would use firefox's shortcut and type "google whatever" in the address bar. Why the need for it in two places? Ugh.

Are you sure you weren't using a different theme?

Right click on them and press "Customize..."

Then drag the stuff you don't want into the "Customize Toolbar" box.

You can change it other search bars like Dictionary.com Amazon.com Ebay.com Wikipedia.com and all that good stuff and more.

Do you mean email messages? I installed thunderbird but haven't configured it yet. I want to go through all my passwords and change them because I'm at the point where I have to cycle through like 10 different password sets to find what's the correct pass for something.
SEN messages... yeah, of course.



You can also configure address bar shortcuts... type in "dict isolated" in the address bar and it takes you to the definiation automatically. That is so cool. I just learned about it yesterday while looking for a way to kill the damn google bar. I have to set up a shortcut for torrentspy.com .
